Gabe Suarez came to our town last weekend to teach an Urban Rifle course. This in itself was unusual as we are pretty isolated in the Texas Panhandle and opportunities are pretty limited for the average Joe to get decent firearms training here. I have attended a number of different shooting schools and this was as good as any of them and better than most.

The material was well organized and presented by explanation, demonstration, dry practice and then reinforced with live fire. Questions were rewarded with answers and discussion that benefitted everyone. Ego was checked at the door. I found everything relevant and useful. Some of the close range techniques were controversial, things I had not seen at other schools, but I found that if you gave them an honest wring out they held up well and worked.

We had a rain storm at one point during the course. Unlike many instructors who would have packed it in because either they or their students would have been worried about melting Gabe soldiered on. Only when the lightning got close did we retire to the classroom where he launched without notes or hesitation into an excellent lecture about mindset/ mental preparation for confrontation and how to deal with the aftermath of an incident. The material was enriched by his own personal examples.

Gabe's techniques have been developed as a result of his numerous violent confrontations. They are more than theories, they are real world tested. I highly reccomend his courses, in fact we have already booked another session !

I have taken about a dozen rifle, shotgun, and handgun classes. In my opinion, Gabe is the most competent I have seen. Others have ranged from real bad to good. But, Gabe was the best. I particularly liked his attention to small details and his mindset.

Any chance of getting a breakdown of exactly what Gabe covered in the class?
Sure would be greatly appreciated.

You might look at his book on the subject for some direction there. It is well illustrated with excellent photos and explanations of the various tactics/methodologies. There is too much to cover in this forum and I wouldn't want to give away his lesson plan etc....
