I don't mind helping a fellow patriot who's genuinely in trouble. But from the beginning, something in his story just didn't seem right. While sharper members than me were able to identify technical discrepancies, I could just tell from the tone of his posts that something didn't add up.

The real problem here is that if he had presented his case better, given us some real facts and been consistant in his story, many of us would have believed him.

If the shoe were on the other foot, and I was a formerly heavily armed meth cooker with a lying, mentally ill ex-wife and I'd recently gotten out of prison, I would hope that the pastor/businessman former cop vietnam veteran who can't sleep at night from the flashbacks who I got to defend me could at least get my story straight.

I read the entire thread last night. Here's my conclusion as a professional fact sifter with over 30 years of experience.

Wow. Don't know how I missed this one before now.

First off, I cannot see how a positive urine test became the basis for a federal charge. Here in Central Ohio, we pretty much need Al Capone-level crime for the feds to even care, much less file a charge.

Second, I wish I had teh kind of power this prosecutor had. I had a case with a meth cook, and during the raid 8 gun safes full of quality firearms were seized. Many were home-modified to full auto and/or short barreled. He had a machien shop with instrictions on how to modify the semi-auto Mac-10's to full auto. The judge ordered evey non-modified or shortened firearm returned to the man's attorney for distribution to his family. Last I heard, the attorney got a Styer AUG, a Styer TMP, and a few very nice revolvers for his services. Personally, I was just glad they all weren't ordered destroyed.

Third, if the man doesn't want to be forthcoming about the details, he shouldn't get all in a huff when people jump his case for a lack of details. God knows that no attorney is going to take the case without full disclosure.

Fourth, so what if the plea agreement said "no appeals?" All that appealing tha case would have done is get the plea thrown out, and the prosecutor would have to proceed with the charges. Since the wife recanted, all that would be left was the dope charges, which is no worse than he already was.

Fifth, any competent criminal lawyer, even a Public Defender, would have been able to negotiate a better plea deal than this.

The case I posted was not him, it was the first google hit for the charge name and it just happened to be in the same district court, sorry pal, it's not meth, nor was meth ever near either of us before we grew out of that phase.

The problem is this. You posted this thread to an open forum, inviting any and all to post to it. Short of havin a mod lock it/delete it, there's nothing you can do to stop someone from posting to it.
