We just got our state one. It's now a class B felony for anyone to try to take weapons as they did in NO. Even if the attempted taker is a LEO.

Should be national as well

I will check if my rep consponsored this

It includes the incorrectly punctated quote of the 2nd

From bill "(1) The Second Amendment to the Constitution states, `A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,' and Congress has repeatedly recognized this language as protecting an individual right.

I hate to use an internet cliche, but...

O RLY? :fire:

If it passes and becomes law, then won't that give us the ground we need to begin abolishing the '86 FOPA, the '68 GCA, and the 1934 NFA? :scrutiny: :)

Or a simple line of Full Faith and Credit being applied to ALL states being forced to honor all other states' concealed-carry licenses? If it applies to drivers' licenses, which are also given on per-state criteria, I see no reason why it couldn't be enforced for CCW with zero additional government meddling.

Looks like a good bill. I am a little bothered by the language "during certain ... emergencies." Implies that there are some where it may not apply.

If it applies to drivers' licenses, which are also given on per-state criteria,
FF&C does not apply to DLs. States give reciprocity to other states' DLs.

I suspect they want to preserve the right to disarm during times of martial law.

If that is their intent, I believe that intent should be the topic of healthy debate, because the 2nd Amendment certainly did not make any exception for "during times of martial law." The times we most need to be concerned about, in fact, are those when it's the entire military and government coming after us rather than just a few state troopers.

Quote from Manded Wolf:

"It's now a class B felony for anyone to try to take weapons as they did in NO. ..........Even if the attempted taker is a LEO."

Maned: It should be a felony, "ESPECIALLY if the attempted taker is an LEO."And if it is done by Guard personnel, it should be a treason charge.

But it will never become law. Because If the Senate gets hold of it, it will be amended to only apply to Mexican "guest workers" and "undocumented migrants".
