Video on why AR is more accurate than AK.

I thought I'd share this with you guys.

I've had an AK (MAK-90) for a long time and just recently bought me an AR.

The AR shoots rings around my AK and this video explains why.

Above link is a problem, I'll try it again:

But, I'm still keeping my AK, it shoots "Come Hell or High Water".

did i miss the link in that post?

if it's the video i'm thinking about, it would be more accurately titled, "why pressing the trigger is more accurate than yanking it"

My SAR-1 amazed me with its accuracy. I bought it as a fungun, and the thing is a tackdriver. Generalizations about ARs and AKs are suspect. I believe that the AR platform and cartridge probably can be made to produce somewhat more accurate weapons than the AK platform and cartridge, but in most configurations you see them on the commercial market, the differences in level of accuracy are dwarfed by the variation in shooter skill and cartridge quality.

I don't think the original video link did worked.

Let me try it again

I don't think pressing / yanking the trigger have to do with it.

When you watch the video you can clearly see the bending of the AK barrel as the action above it works the bolt?

Yeah, it's te video where the AK shooter slaps the trigger like a pimp demanding payment from one of his girls.

My AKs are solid 4MOA rifles. I can and have hit 12" steel at 300 yards with one under the timer at our local matches.

If they are using the AK trigger the way the shooter did when they were shooting the pine blocks, no wonder they missed the target completely. Didn't look like they were shooting the M16 particularly well either though.

Duke,

You are lucky with your SAR 1. From the other thread today on this:

My Century SAR-1 using iron sights shot 5"-6" groups at 100 yards. It was put together by a manic-depressive, alcholic monkey that had been subjected to a lifetime of shock treatments.
I wouldn't take a shot that mattered at anything I needed to take an ethical shot at. Ever.

As for the rest of this....

I can't explain all of the why's. Maybe barrels, maybe harmonics, maybe gas systems, maybe a plethra of things. Maybe a combination of things....

But EVERY AR I've ever owned and/or shot-- both .308's and 5.56mm's have been significantly more accurate than Every AK that I've owned and/or shot-- including AK's in .308, 7.62x39, and 5.56mm.

This condition has remained true even with optics on each rifle.

Hell, if someone digs up the thread, I spent almost a grand on an AK trying to make it more accurate. In the end, it did not equal either my AR or my LR-308 in out-of-the-box condition.

This isn't bashing AKs. I love them as well, but I do recognize where they are more ideal and where other rifles are more ideal.

I can't believe the guy couldn't hit the target. That is crazy. Even the guy shooting the AR did a very poor job.

If you don't like the sights, change them. I have no problem with the AK sights.

the myth that the DI system of the AR-15 series is inherently more accurate then a traditional gas operated system with a Piston is simply not true.
also the AR bolt is only some 50gr lighter then the AK bolt, bit more then 10%.

there are also very very Accurate AK's, like the Finish Valmet.
