This is what the VPC thinks of the Eddie Eagle Program:

http://www.vpc.org/eddie.htm

They show these kids a 7-min Eddie Eagle video, then leave some guns around (unloaded, locked). The kids GRAB these shooters.

The VPC conclusion: It doesn't work.

Note: The kids haven't been through the full program.

Note:

This mother said they have no guns, not even toy ones at home

What do you expect?:banghead:

I have to ask, what did you expect from VPC? These are not the most honest people around. They have an agenda and have shown that they are not willing to let pesky things like facts get in their way.

So, how did they conduct these experiments? Did they show Arnie in T-3 first? How about Clint Eastwood's "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly?" Were these children the only children tested or were there more Eddie Eagle success cases that VPC decided not to share with us?

Empty minds wanna no.

That's not so bad, really. ABC news did the same "experiment" on national television a couple of years ago. I watched it at my parents' house with my mom, and she was horrified by it. Not because it was so obviously slanted, but because she'd never known how dangerous those things were!

ABC wasn't content with putting the guns in the room. They put the kids in a playroom and buried the guns in the toy boxes. :scrutiny:

yeah i think i saw that
they gave a control group of kids no eddie eagle
they gave the experimental group of kids some eddie eagle
they put the groups of kids in a room with guns (unloaded) around (some hidden)
some kids ran to tell mom, some kids played with them, some kids aimed them at other kids and then denied touching them when confronted about it by there parents, (who had observed through a hidden window)
i forget what the actual correlation found was.....if i recall, the training wasnt effective, but something having to do with their upbringing or having guns in the home or something like that was a better indicator of who picked up a gun or not
i wish i had my notes on that video still
oh well
