I've read that Walther has changed the appearance of the P99. Does anyone have pictures that compare the new vs. the old models?

Basically.....they changed the rail, triggerguard, slide serrations, and slide release.
I personally don't like the new look.

What's up with the trigger on the new model? It looks like it has a Glock style safety.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like it. I really hate the direction Walther is heading. The new P99, the P99 compact, the G22 rifle.....BLECH.

yeah that new walther looks absolutely horrible.
Anyone know how durable walthers are corrosion resistant wise? I want a gun i can carry while washing my car, or leave in the bathroom while taking a shower.
Will the Walther require little maintenance like the Glock? Any reports of rusting?
BTW, how is the Walther trigger compared to the Glocks?

That trigger block is only on the DAO model.
Yeah, I like the old look too. Glad my wife already has one.

acutally I still love the look of the old P99's the most.
The ones that doesn't have the "dent" on the front of the slide.
I saw a titanium slide P99 older model on this forum and oh man... that P99 is by far the sexiest oh these newer models.
I wonder how the P99 enthusiasts have taken this. You think Walther is getting a lotta flack for introducing this sorry looking gun to the public?

The older looks better, but the new one is more practical for a service pistol. The larger trigger guard has more space for gloved finger, and the slide catch is ambidextrous.

I, for one, am glade to see that "hump" inside the triggerguard go. That thing hurts my fiingers when I fire my .40 (it doesn't become noticeable with my 9mm).

Just so everyone understands, take a look at the catalog on your own before leaping to a condemnation. Walther Defense Catalog 2004
The new slide stop is only on the QA and DAO. It looks different because it is ambidextrious. The AS (which is most like the majority sold today), retains the left sided slide release. On the AS, the major changes are useable rails, a deletion of the trigger guard hump, and the love it or hate it revision to the slide serrations. There also seems to be a mild reconfiguring of the lines of the slide itself.
It really doesn't matter to me, as I am one of those in the minority that prefers the look of the SW99 anyways. I like curves more than angles.
