A new Walther P99?

I'd hope not. My opinion of Sig would be lowered if I had any evidence that they actually copied another company's design.

But like you said, there are a lot of pistols with that type of design.

You know, I went with the M&P series before I felt the P99. I still love my M&P 40, but I would honestly consider the P99 9mm for my next purchase. I loved the feel of it, and it's an attractive gun with some character, unlike the Block!s

I liked old P88 much more .I am wondering why they stopped making that excellent pistol. Not impressed with P99 accuracy.

As a side note, what is the general consensus on the P99?
The P99 is the best polymer pistol available in my biased opinion. I have three of the older style P99s and all three have been flawless.
My P99s have the AS trigger as I prefer DA/SA. I also prefer the older styling but, the new look has grown on me. You won't go wrong with a P99.
I just wish Walther would come out with a sand frame 9mm AS version.

I agree. I have a P88 and P88 Compact and the compact is my favorite pistol.
The reason they stopped making them was the cost was too high for them to secure any military or police contracts. The P88 was in the US Army trials back in the '80s that Beretta won.
A nice low cost copy is the Bersa Thunder 9. I have three of these as well and they are nice pistols for the price, around $350.

I'll just stay with my basic black AS in 40. Black goes with everything....

I was never able to understand that decision. I think one of the reasons was no manual safety on P88.

the only other pistol that made it to the final of the Army trials was the SIG P226.

Well in that case I have no clue why they would go for Beretta. In my opinion P88 is superior to P226 and 92.
