New for 2016... http://www.waltherarms.com/handguns/pps/pps-m2/

Finally came out with the M2 version of the PPS... I may have to track one of these down... my S&W Shield is at risk of being replaced.

If the M2 improvements are anything like the PPQ M2, I'm in for a treat.

The biggest thing that stopped me from the original PPS is the paddle mag release... I don't have a problem with it, but I find the button release far easier to use.

That may have had something to do with why the price of the PPS dropped $30-50 over the last 6 months.

I am interested. My pps in .40 is my edc, and I love my PPQ .40--the best trigger in all my handguns. But I also really like the paddle magazine release too.

The photo-graphic with all the details has an interesting key for information. It says the trigger pull is 6.1 pounds or a whopping 13.5 pounds!

When you try to zoom in on it to get a clear look, the graphic disappears and all you see are the standard details which all state 6.1 pounds.

My presumption is they're making the 14 pound triggers for commie states.

How could any company make a pistol with a trigger that heavy? That's unsafe, as a trigger that heavy will always take the muzzle off target.

Well you now have the PPS M2. For most the push button mag release will be a welcome change. Overall, it scores high in the looks department, once again Bond has an attractive gun to carry. Would have preferred quicker acquisition 2-element bar-dot sights, but we get the ubiquitous 3-dot. Traditional heavy DA trigger followed by a short, light SA pull. No doubt Walther engineers looked at a thumb safety but their market analysis must have pointed away from that, maybe should take a second look at the CCP... or just live with the original PPS, have about a 100 rounds thru mine, boringly accurate, a good gun that would be much better with a thumb safety, maybe there will be a PPS M3?

Went to my LGS today intending to purchase a PPS M2 to replace my PPS. However, I decided not to make the purchase. While I do not like the paddle magazine release, the M2 was not as comfortable in my hand as the original. Also, discovered the magazines are not interchangeable between PPS and PPS M2.

The lack of magazine interchangeability is to be expected... they changed from a paddle release to a button... just like the P99/PPQ M1 vs. PPQ M2 magazines. Different engagement points.

As far as feeling better in the hand, glad you were able to try it in your hand first. All I know, is my PPQ fits my hand like a glove... I have the same high hopes for the PPS M2.

Personally I think the M2 is a step down. I prefer the paddle style release and the rail on the dust cover. From what I can tell the only improvements I see is they removed the Quicksafe feature(?) and the grip looks a little more comfortable. Both problems I could remedy on the M1 with a wrap around grip sleeve.

In any case I hope they still keep making the M1 available to dealers. I would hate to get a different gun with my tax return money.

New Manual of Operation

[Posted here and elsewhere]
I guess I'm looking for experience as opposed to guesses, but I'll take both.

I've been running a 1911 platform since ... late-'70s. Series 70 Colt, Gold Cup, Commanders, now S&W 1911PD (I know, external extractor, FL guide rod, etc).

I'm jonesing for a Walther PPS for no particular reason than lighter, flatter, older (me, not the gun). I haven't yet tried the "paddle magazine release." FWIW, I put in range and training time with any new EDC.

For those that have made the transition, (1.) did the mag release create a huge problem, or was it just a new muscle memory like anything else? and (2.) have you experienced any confusion in swapping between the PPS and the 1911 platforms?

Thanks
