Update
Well guys, I fully intended to go get a XDm or M&P when I went to the gun store today, but as always, the 1911 section always catches my eye. I started out at looking at the Kimber Grand Raptor. That thing is awesome, but then I saw the price tag and put it down. I picked a US made (NM serial #) Springfield Armory Loaded with adjustable sights. Initial look over was nice gun. The fit of the safety was a bit sloppy and then a the end of the slide....tool marks....eish. I expected that out of something lesser, not a SA. I then looked at a Cold Gold Cup. That thing rattled like a spray paint can. I put it back too. There was also a Cold Combat Elite. Very nice, but the beaver tail safety was not as well finished and blended as I'd expect on a $1K gun. I then saw a "plain" Kimber Custom Target. Very tight. Nicely finished. Finish was even matte throughout. Parts are fit nicely. Positive snap on and off of the safety. The trigger was superb too. A bit heavier than the Cold Gold Cup and the Kimber Grand Raptor, but those had more creep in them and this one broke like glass. I was suprised since this was not a "Custom Shop" Kimber (I know that's up for debate). I had the salesperson try them out and he agreed. I then put those down and looked at the XD and the M&P, but kept coming back to the Kimber. All Kimber bashing aside, this is my new range toy and my second Kimber. I just couldn't justify the extra 5-600 for the Grand Raptor for what I was going to use it for but that Grand Raptor sure is purty. Hopeing to get her out this weekend and get some rounds down range. I'll report back later this weekend with full review and pics. Thanks for everyones input.
