Ok, I just sent my keltec sub 2000 rifle in for warranty work. I've had it for almost 4 years now, It's in .40 and take glock mags, this is the first problem
i'v ever had with it. It cracked on the hinge where the rifle folds. I called keltec and talked to a guy named Mike, real nice guy and he told me to send it in.Sent it and got a call and email from the same guy saying it would take 4-6 weeks for repair!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically my question is does it normally take this long? This is the first weapon I've ever had any problems with so I'm not sure if this is good return time or if Mike is the only employee at the plant.

I own various Kel-tecs, but never sent one in for warranty work. Parts come fast, and typically free--but for service at Kel-tec, I do not think 4-6 weeks would be out of line.

I've had exceedingly fast turnaround from S&W, and exceedingly slow. Just get your RMA number from them, and wait 4 weeks or so before the first phone call. You may be pleasantly surprised and have it back sooner.

Something like that, well not really. Keltec is a small company who's sales are outgrowing their current size. They are generally hesitant to hire on more workers, because they don't want to have to lay them off if business slows down. (or so I hear) This is why it is often hard to find their products in stock, they don't produce enough to meet demand. I would imagine the same thing is going on in CS. The one area at keltec that never seems to be understaffed or falling behind is R&D; that company has come up with more innovative designs in the last 10 years than most companies in the last 40. Look at Glock, they have one design that they've adapted slightly into different models, but Keltec has made something like 7 or 8 unique, innovative platforms.

True, kel tec is the most innovative company in years. I can understand not having or wanting to size up in the economy, maybe there waiting for it to turn around then beef up there staff. Thats why so many new and innovative designs, there just waiting for the right time hopefully. I know i want the PMR 30 and that new shotgun for sure!

Like Keltec, but turn around on their products is sloooowwww! Spoke with a rep about that and he said similar stuff about being a small company. He also joked that they build stuff for NASA first and build guns for fun in the down time!:)

So yes the return time is about on par!
