Looking for a respectable light for my AR-15 that goes for less than $100, does such a thing exist?

Was hoping for a "SUREFIRE," but it appears their "weapon lights" are no cheaper than $208.

I've got a Streamlight TLR-1 on mine, mounted on the right side of the foregrip.
I'm not a fan of vertical grips but I think there is a pressure switch option for it that is available.
It's easy enough to actuate with my index finger and is small enough to not get in the way.
...very bright and close to budget too BTW.

If you're really wanting Surefire, you should be able to get a Surefire G2 and a rail mount (from another brand) for really close to $100. You'll have to operate it with your thumb or finger, much like what Fatdaddy is talking about.

The Streamlight TLR-1 is a good light. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for that.

I'm in the same boat, and I've bought the streamlight polytac for about 35$
Supposedly holds up pretty well to even shotgun recoil as a WML with 130 lumens, 3 hrs of runtime, and takes CR123 batteries.
Gets pretty good reviews, too with dudes who run em hard. Might wanna check it out!
I'm looking at mounting options now, and wondering whether I should buy the scout mount which directly interfaces to the MOE handguards I have, or purchase a rail section to mount the magpul cantilevered light rail mount with the V rings...

Any advice? It's a lot more convenient to outright buy the light rail mount and rail section, than the scout, plus V ring mount seperate but I don't want to add another failure point if I can mount directly to the MOE handguards.

I don't know that one option is any better than another, but something else to consider is that if you got the rail mount, you could still use it on another rifle or if you decided to swap out the MOE handguards for a rail.

The MOE mount is probably a little cleaner looking, though...

Depends on the use. For any weapon I rely on, Surefire is all I use. I have an older M951 on my AR that is perfect. Might be able to find a used one for around $100.

Stalk ebay for a Novatec SPL-120. Great little service weapon light that I still use. Very useful with a pressure switch.

I run a Fenix on my AR and like it a lot. I also have a Surefire on my Glock 19 and a TLR-1s on my M&P. The Fenix more than holds its own against the other two.

I bought an Orion for my AR. 500 lumens, it'll light up a 2 acre pasture out to 200 yards. Model H40W, $59.95 on Amazon. Comes with pressure switch and push button end caps, two CR123 batteries and Picatinny rail mount. Great light to just stick in a pocket for when you need a good light.

I have several of the TLR-1's for my handguns and rifles. My favorite one though is their TLR-1 HP. I picked mine up at Midway on sale a while back for $99.

I like the TLR-1 that I put on my Rem 870 - need to get another one for my own AR. They can be had regularly for ~ $96

I agree. I'd get a G2 and a mount. I have a G2 and it goes everywhere i do.
