Thanks to my other thread asking about calibers and recoil, I finally *bought* my first gun (the rest were hand-me-downs).
At the range this morning I shot a box of .38 specials through a .357, and it really didn't feel too bad. The targets were hit without too much difficulty. I really couldn't have asked for a better morning to be spending time with friends at the range, especially since one of us had never shot anything before.
Afterwards I headed over to rent a 1911 .45 ACP because I kind of have a thing for 1911s for some reason. Pretty much fell in love with how that felt firing down the range. Went through a box of ammo in no time and left a softball size hole in the target at ~10 yds. I was really surprised at how well I was able to control the kick.
So I walked out with a new Taurus PT1911AL for $450. Too bad I won't be able to hit the range again for a couple of weeks
