What’s your summertime carry setup?

The nights are getting shorter and warmer and the spirit of summer is fast approaching, so the other day I was going over the various handguns I own, contemplating what I would use this spring and summer as a carry rig, I guess I was also trying to justify another purchase, but anyway…

Lets see those pics of your dedicated spring/summer carry setup.

I’ll post mine as soon as I can figure out which way I’m going, right now I’m leaning towards old faithful, my trusty rusty SIG P239 .357SIG in a Wild Bills NSA Rig.

No pic of complete set up TFW but - last year I used my SP-101 exclusively - in a Jim Burke belt slide - then a copy of same made by Kevin of K&D.

I now tho have my 226 on board and am seriously considering this to continue thru summer. I use a Smith and Alexander vest - made from denim. Much of time I am on bike with this but even for general use - it does a good job of concealment. Some say it shouts ''carry'' - but IMO not like some vests out there.

So - for me I think I'll make it thru summer this year with 15+1 in my 226 - a better measure than SP-101 tho I do like that too - just a capacity thing!!

Here, you have to imagine a vest covering these - but this is how they sit ... both K&D holsters..

I will probably start using my tuckable IWB holster more with my SP101 for summer. I also figure that my little Beretta Mod 21 will get alot of use on those 100 degree days.

This will be my first summer of CCW, so I'll be learning alot!

Back in '09 I figured out what I shoot best. Ever since I have dressed around these firearms, year round.

Same as always - Glock 17 in a FOBUS paddle alternated with a Colt OACP on a Wild Bill's IWB.

Handmade Threepersons type holster for the Smith 24 or 29, Lawrence cartridge belt, Randall knife, single speedloader just ahead of the holster. Same as winter.

For those summer on the mountain times, (grizzly country) then a Lawrence 120 (Keith design Threepersons type) for the Ruger 45, cartridge belt, Randall knife, and firestarter fixings in beaded belt pouch(can get real cold falling in a creek at 10,000 ft el). when I have the Browning 45-70 carbine, then a 6 round belt slide with spare rifle shells also.

If hunting any, then a 45-70 cartridge belt with 30 rounds, with the Ruger 45, and just take 6 spare pistol shells in my pocket, Randall knife, firestarter. Hunting may be whacking grouse or squirrels with light loads in the 45-70. Any excuse to get out. Guess that would be late summer or fall tho.

Um, let's see? I really like DA/SA semi-auto's and have relied heavily on the .45 caliber SIG P220 in the past, but since I've acquired a few more
handguns the picture may change. Either the P220, P228, or S&W 6906
backed by either a S&W model 37 or 642. Or quite possibly the LWS-32
from Seecamp.

Did I see where your into Kimbers now?

I have a Kimber Custom TLE-TL II that has been my first 100% reliable 1911 style gun.

Any plans on carrying it? I cant carry mine, because our Off-Duty qual course leans heavily towards high caps. I could probobaly manage it, but the Kimber is bigger and heavier than my duty weapon.

Colorado doesn't get cold enough in the winter that I have to dress any heavier than I do in the summer!
So I use my XD & High Noon Tail Gunner and cover them with a button-up cotton shirt all year.

(Ok, sometimes I put on a light jacket when the winds are bad.)

I carry the same thing all year. USP40c in a Blade-Tech IWB. In the summer time I just switch to shorts and short sleave t-shirts.

Usually a Kahr PM-9 in a Highnoon Holster Hidden Alley. Just add 124gr. +p Gold Dots.

Here in Miami it's always summer I'll be with my H&KUSPc.40 in an Aker Flatsider 95% of the time. The rest of the time it will be either a KelTec P11 or Smith 36 in a pocket holster.

Summer it's a Kimber Elite Carry (occifer's frame & 4" top end) in a Milt Sparks Watch-6.

Winter it's a Springfield loaded in a Rafter S IWB.

I remember that carrying in Phoenix during the summer was sometimes a dicey proposition. God forbid you had to step inside a post office for an hour, get back to your car and slip your IWB sheathed blaster into your pants.

I will carry other weapons, SP101 or S&W 642 to name a few but I always try to carry my KelTec 380.

P95Carry, the problem with vests is if you radically change your wardrobe people realize. Example if I start wearing a vest everyone (that knows me) will start asking why are you wearing that?? I have never seen you wear that...etc.
