My nephew sold 4 Glocks for 40% more than he paid a few years ago. Not bad and he did not buy them long ago, so he came out on the plus side. But, the comments about inflation over time is a good thing to consider. In 1968 I bought a single shot 22 from a pawn shop for $10. At that time I was working my way thru college as a janitor for $1.10 per hour. When I retired, depending on the venue, I was making $75-$125 per hour and sold the rifle for $200. It cost me a day's wages to buy it and, BTW, I did not take home all of my wages. So one could say it cost me a day and a half worth of floor sweeping to have a simple single shot .22. So you do the math. Good deal??
It is as sellers are almost purposely trying to discourage people from buying, anyone I know into shooting isn't buying ammo right now I know I'm not and because of the ammo situation I've lost most interest in buying any guns right now also except one special one I'm on the lookout for a USP Expert in .40 and that is because I have thousands of rounds of it from the great Walmart ammo fire sale of last year when they ditched carrying ammo.Wow, I have not been paying attention to ammo prices lately (don't have to). CTD offering steel case wolf .223 at a buck a round?
Wow.
I've been curious what people are selling during this panic. My nephew had some Glocks he didn't want anymore so decided that now might be a good time to sell. I helped him sell several guns, which sold quickly. In the process we sorted thru his ammo stash. He had about 800+ rounds of 9mm, which, as you know, is selling for crazy prices. But, I suggested he keep them.
I've been selling guns (and buying too), but I've been doing that for years. The panic hasn't effected me much, except when finding reloading components. Planning a tour today of all my favorite gun haunts, just to see what's out there. So what have you guys been up to?
Next time he asks about it, raise the price and tell him the value keeps going up. Just have fun with it. I've had guys call me about a gun that I'm asking, say $500 and they offer me $200. So I come back and tell them it is now $550 because they insulted me with the $200 offer.
