BEST !!!

:) GLOCK 21, getting alot better - weekly trips for the last 5-6 weeks. Trigger time pays off. I am sticking w/ the same ammo. Winchester value pack (100) for around $20 or remington in the green box for about $9. to $10. for fifty. I stick to new ammo.

Any comments on the WOLF .45 ammo: ??? :scrutiny:

Well, I may have to go back to the range and do the test over--- I finally got around to doing a tune and polish job on the S&W 64, S&W 629 and Ruger Speed Six. The results are what you may have expected, smoother and lighter actions = more accuracy and speed. [at least for me] Lighter Wolff springs were also installed. Sure has made a difference.

For speed+accuracy nothing beats my Browning Buckmark 5.5 Nickel Target with the Pro Point mounted on top. For a centerfire handgun it's hands down the CZ 97B, followed closely by the CZ 85 Compact (40 S&W), then the Dan Wesson model 15 357 shooting 38 specials, then the Super Redhawk 454 with "Colt" level target loads. I find guns heavy for the caliber, but still light enough to point, work best for me. I haven't done a formal test, but that's the impression I get from my handguns.

My Glock 24P would be in there somewhere because I can shoot it very quickly but it doesn't have the absolute accuracy of the other guns I've mentioned. If I had to get in a fight, and it had to be a handgun, I'd probably go with the Glock. Between it's eat everything reliability, good size holes, high capacity, and over all handling, I think it would serve me best over the other guns.

I can hit a COM sized target with any of my handguns taking less than 1 sec a shot at 25 yards without any trouble. Some do it better than others.

I shoot best with:

1. Cz-PO1
2. Government Sized 1911
3. HK USP
4. Jericho 941
5. Smith and Wesson 686 revolver
6. Steyr MA-1
7. Glock 17
8. Browning P35

The most accurate gun I have been shootig by far has been my Wilson Stainless Professional.....that is until I bought my Springfield XD-45 in February. It is every bit as accurate as the Professional at 1/4 the cost. I continue to carry the Wilson, but the XD is fast making it's way into my holster as my favorite carry and shooting gun. I shoot 230gr. Federal HydraShoks in both guns.

After reading your list but before reading your results, I figured that the CZ83 would win. The larger .380 pistols really come back on target fast and you can dump the rounds in a HURRY while making good hits.

If you get a chance, try shooting a Ruger P95. It's not my favorite gun, but I haven't shot a 9mm that comes back on target quicker. It just seems to be designed for fast shooting.

What do you shoot "best" ?

JohnKSa Yes, the CZ 83 is the best 380 IMHO. It is such a natural pointer, fast and a accurate as a good 1911, I don 't feel un armed with it, because it is accurate and faster than most handguns. I carry a Ss&W 3953 more often than most, because of the size. I have several favorites, and use them all. one time or another, for different circomstances or just for a change.:) Seems that I just continue increasing the number of "favorites". --sure is difficult to part with some of them! I would speculate that some of you continue to add to the collection, and the number of handguns grows. My practical side of my brain says that I only NEED a couple. As the saying goes-- beware of the may with only one gun.

For me, it's my Colt Mark IV. Easiest to get back on target due to the compensator, and most accurate you betcha. For first shots, the Kimber UCDP would run a close second, but it's not as quick regaining the sight picture.

Without a doubt a Hi Standard ( read Dan Wesson ) fixed sighted 4" 357. About 18 years ago, while bird huntind, I stumbled upon the primest blackie at a range od a few feet. 28 gauge with birdshot just doesn't cut it. I bought the revplver the next day. Kept it for a few years and finaly traded it off because of the finish. The gun had a nice blue job, but when you turned it over the sideplate was as red as a cherry. If I had it today, I'd have it all black chromed....Live and learn..........Essex

The gun I'm most accurate with is my XD .45GAP. The thing is just scary accurate. I put my steel spinner out at 50 yards, it has a 4" top bullseye and a 6" bottom bullseye. My buddy looked at me a laughed when I came back to the firing line...

He didn't laugh long. And I was equally amazed that I could hit it at will. It's not a fast shooter but it's an accurate one.

The question can be approached in many ways.

For most folks with an accurate .22 auto, such as a long barrelled Ruger w/ a scope or red dot sight, they would be hard pressed to shoot anything else as accurately at 25 yds. in slow fire . . . or quickly in rapid fire. Here's mine:

However, my Model 29 6" Smith .44mag w/holosight has TWICE allowed me to harvest THREE deer at once . . . all within mere seconds . . . including a big doe as the #3 once that was running broadside in a clearcut @65 yards. From a steady rest it will roll milk jugs at 200 yards (just hold 34 inches high)!

Neither of these guns would be my choice though as a combat handgun, or at a tactical match. In the combat calibers I strangely do my very best shooting, with many hundreds of matches to reference to, with my Smith revolvers.

Even my highly customized Colt Combat Elite could not best my efforts with my Model 25-2 and 625 S&W revolvers in .45ACP and using moon clips. My hot-rodded 25-2 w/ the barrel chopped to 3 1/2" is my favorite of all!

Man . . . I LOVE those big "N" frame Smiths as my favorite serious handguns . . . with the "L" and "K" frames close behind!!!

My wife asks me occasionally why I have so many handguns. I can honestly say that I enjoy and use each one for a different purpose.
