What do you think is the most over-rated firearm?

Gotta join in on the Glock bashing. I really just hate holding them. XD is everything a glock is, but cheaper and has a much more natural grip angle.

I may be inclined to say 1000+ 1911's, or really any other gun that's that expensive. No handgun is worth that much to me.

AR's seem WAY overrated! They're cool and all, and I'd love to own one, but not for $1000!

though i haven't had alot of experience with much besides my Beretta,i had the chance to try out a glock at the range and couldn't see the big deal..felt completely wrong in my hand.had a chance to try my brothers 1911a once and liked it better.the one gun i liked that i rented at the range was the S&W .480 (i had Better grouping then with my 92D that i've been shooting for awhile now)

*i guess glocks can't be to bad if lee "the gunny" ermey likes them...

AR's are definately overrated

AK's are underrated, mostly accuracy wise.

Maybe we don't read any of the same threads or articles, but I think the opposite of what you said. I seem to hear a lot of AK's never fail and never break, and AR's can't function when even the least bit dirty.

More people probably will agree with your post, but I still can't see how AR's are overrated. People claim them to be accurate, they usually are very accurate, people claim them to be built with quality and most of them are.

I do agree that AK's are generally a little underrated when it comes to accuracy though.

Which is why new 1911's are being made to fit the USMC and other Special Forces needs in Iraq and Afghanistan. (I don't see them sending Glocks or any gun over there).

After almost 100 years it's still one of the most used and copied weapons EVER.

Like the M2 .50 cal.....still going strong after nearly 100 yrs.

You don't mess with success.

Also, anyone who said Remington 870 is wrong too. Sorry.

Someone smarter then me once said, "If you don't own a Remington 870, you don't own a shotgun."

(If the Glock is still being used 100 years from it's inception, it'd be impressed. I don't see it happening.....do you?)

Again i say the Sig is overrated,and the h&k is overated also you got the kimber these weapons are too costly S&W THE AUTOS ARE NOT AS GOOD AS
THE REVOLVERS .Please don't get a ruger auto, its sucks.Ruger makes great revolvers.In shotguns i think about the benell its way over price.

Love my Beretta stuff, but can't stand the 92/96; the 8000/8040/8357/8045 are way better IMHO.
The 870 is a million times better than a BPS for the price.
Any Winchester model 70 is overrated currently, they are priced crazy. Actually bought a couple of SIG SHR 970 lately for way less than a Winchester.
Carry Para P-12 or Beretta 8040, currently hunt with Remy 700 (7mag of course), and go after the birds with a Beretta 303 or 391 in 20 or 12; but love the overpriced remy 1100 sporting 28 for dove with 8.5 shot.

Glocks. Fantastic firearms but they are just firearms...not some magical elixir. They jam and break like other mechanical devices. The triggers and grip angle sucks for me. They're ugly. I certainly would stake my life on one, though.

I have high end long guns in the 1500.oo to 3000.00 range i also have lower end long guns one of witch is a early savage tactical heavy with a savage custom stock that i beaded this shoots as well as my most expansive gun the savage is a great gun that i have $800.00 in to have not changed the trigger yet may not its a little heavy but not that bad so i think price is over rated i fell in to the more you spend the better you get i was wrong.

On that note, I find it amusing that so many folks talk about the Desert Eagle (for better or worse), but so very few of us actually own one. I personally love mine for what it is-a very accurate, massively powerful semi-auto HUNTING pistol.
