What do you typically value used optics at compared to the retail price?

For what it's worth......I've looked at many used scopes at huge shows like the Tulsa Gun Show, hoping to find a bargain. I became amused and amazed by how much these vendors think their used gems are worth. Not surprisingly, I've never bought one. I no longer bother to look at used scopes. There is one used scope that always and I do mean always, sells for around $400. That is the Weaver 36X Target Scope. If you can figure that one out, let me know.
To sell your used scopes, you have to sell well below retail, IMO. And a note to some of you guys who really know your scopes, you can find and negotiate bargains when you know prices and products.

Depends on what it is.

Some were junk when they left the factory. Others sold cheap and earned great reputations, they sell these days now for more than they cost new.

I used to get good deals on used Redfields and sent a few back sometimes only cost was shipping back and forth to me

I concur. I’ve come to believe that bargains are rare at gun shows, and not just optics.

I watched a vendor bring the same used Eotech 512, show after show, and ask full retail for it. I approached him once and made him a fair offer for it. His response was, “don’t waste my time”.

I can assure you I never bothered him again

Back in the day, it was quite the opposite, that is where you went to get bargains, sadly, those days are mostly gone.
