The 'Wish List' thread got me thinking about one of my absolute favorite guns, one I'll probably never own, the C96 'Broomhandle' Mauser.

Owning an original would be sweet, but it would almost certainly be a safe queen. I want one I can shoot.

If you could pick one gun to be brought back, updated and modernized, what would it be?

Doesn't have to be a gun, per se, but at least gun related.

How about an American Made Winchester 94. Nothing against Miroku quality, but made in Japan just doesn't fit with Winchester 94.

Let's see...

I'd snap up a S&W Model 16 in a heartbeat, especially if it was a 3T's gun.
A run of S&W 1076s would sell out quick.
And Hege-Manton flintlock pistols are selling for insane prices, well over $2K.

Schnellfeur Mauser (the C96 that was selective fire with detachable magazines).

Now, if I had to really go back, I'd get one of Daniel Boone's gun (with his signature attesting that it was his) or Daniel Morgan's gun.

Pistols in 44 automag. The desert eagle doesn't qualify because it is so bulky and not as nice looking as the original 44 automags.

I'd like to see the Stoner rifle brought back to life. Robinson tried it in the 90's, but with everything they seem to do, it was half done and then ceased.

Yeah, all of the 3rd gen. Smiths. They killed a great line of pistols in order to copy Glock. Now they copy Glock and Colt, they still have the revolvers, but I wonder how long that will last. Now they are copying Taurus.

Sad, because Smith was an industry leader, now they just follow like a puppy.

Just repeal the '86 machine gun ban and I'm good.

:cuss: Like that's ever going to happen.

With regard to this particular pistol, reproducing all those intricately machined and hand fitted parts is likely to make it prohibitively expensive. Unless you like the idea of a MIM Broomhandle. :uhoh:

Smith 547. 9mm revolver that doesn't take moon clips. My father in law has a couple and they're nice shooters.

Savage 99
Savage 24
Ithica 37 and Winchester Model 12

Smith and Wesson M-19 P&R no lock, 2 1/2" & 4" both with a beefed up forcing cone, using improved steels or improved heat treating so no questions about a steady diet of "real" .357 Magnum loads.

Smith and Wesson M-39, just the coolest looking 9 M/M around, and I never bought one when I should have.

The Colt Python with S&W/Ruger reliability

I've got a few of those already.

yea yea yea...rub it in a little...the price on those things has shot up ridiculously. I want one in nickel finish and a 4" barrel, but I always buy something else before my gun purchase piggy bank reaches what it needs to be at to pick one up. You can just donate one of yours to me. It's for a good cause :)

I'd like to see a TEC-22 with special attention paid to increased reliability.

As far as I'm aware, all of the hi-cap .22 pistols currently on the market are based on cut down rifles, like the Ruger Charger, PLR-22, etc. I'd like to see something designed as a pistol from the get go.

Ithica 37

Wish granted ;).
