Hello,

I ordered an unfinished stock from Stockade Stocks and was wondering what type of epoxy should I use to do all the final finishing?

Thanks,

Jacob

I guess I didn't post the situation or question clear enough.

I ordered a "Money Saver" stock from Stockade Stocks from the discription the stock will be straight out of the mold and will need all the cosmetic work done to it. It also states that you can buy a kit with a two part epoxy filler and sandpaper ect. didn't purchase the kit since I have everything I need to do the finish except the two part epoxy. So my question is:

What type of two part epoxy should I use as filler for a composite stock cosmetic work?

Thanks Guys,

Gudgeon Brothers West Sytems epoxy is used in varous mixes for all kinds of uses, both structural and finishing. I'm sure they have a combination of products that would work.

Apparently you are going to have to paint it after the filler.

So, I would think plain old Bondo auto body filler would work pretty well.

Thanks for the pointers on the epoxy.

Would something like JB Weld work?

And yes I will be painting it after I am done, I will be using Duracoat grey base with white and black speckles and free handing on some cracks to make it look like it is granite topped of with the duracoat clear.

Yes, JB Weld should work.

I don't know about painting over it though.
Seems what little I have used it doesn't get as hard as I would prefer.

But my experiance with JB Weld is limited.

Two part epoxy for stock finishing

If you want something to bed the action with Brownell's sells a kit that will do the job, plus you can build up any flaws on the out side of the stock, that's what it's made for. Accura-Glass jell that's all I use, and never had a problem with it. Brownells.com Al

Bondo

I used that on my 52 Chevy pickup back in 65. Used some duct tape on it to, probably had some bayling wire holding up the muffler. LOL Al
