While I'm waiting for the rest of the parts to finish my Saiga Conversion, I thought I'd ask what your favorite Evil Black Rifle is and why.

For me, right now its the AK series. I like the way the gun feels, and the simplicity of the design. I can field strip pretty easily, and maintenance is not difficult.

I also like the 30 caliber round.

What about the rest of you guys?

I love my CMMG 22LR EBR. I do need to get around to finding a M16 bayonet for it online, then it'd be truly wicked.

Really the only one I like much is the AR.... it is due primarly to the ergonomics, then to the light weight and accuracy.

Without a doubt, the AR15 platform. Accurate to ranges well beyond what most people are capable of, as modular as legos, and as American as apple pie and Star Wars.

For me it's the AR due to the balance (20" retro), handling, ergonomics and accuracy.

I've owned various AK based arms and without exception the accuracy always left me cold. I want to be the limiting factor in how well my guns shoot not the design.

I prefer the 7.62x39mm cartridge and AK operating system over the 5.56 and DI AR system.

However, I much prefer the ergonomics and sites of the M4.

The AR platform.

It works, it's accurate, it's reliable, it's customizable, it's fun. I simply can't imagine myself having a gun collection without an AR platform rifle in it. I went with Daniel Defense as the AR I prefer and I have it customized just the way I like it!

my favorite is the vz58, feels so natural for me when shouldered and accurate enough

FN FAL .308 "Match" bought new approx 1985---still one of the very best!

AR-15, just because it's the closest thing there is to a do-all gun. Think about it--in minutes, you can go from a close-in hard hitter like the .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf to something that can reach out and touch a target at 600 yards, like the 6.5mm Grendel. Amazing for something designed back in the 40s and 50s, eh?

I'm an AK fan. They're actually pretty ergonomic if you remember they're built to be simple. AR's can go ahead and be the Lexus of EBR's, but AK's are the Ford trucks.

Heck, you can do pretty much all the cleaning and maintenance without actually taking it apart!

Nothing against AR's--I'm a fan when they're built to military spec but without the military politics ruling over them. But I trust my Saiga, and Florida has way too much coarse sand, bodies of water, and lube-ruining climates to trust to anything but Russian designs for a true survival gun.

AR-15/M4 by far. But the LAR-8 (AR-10 like platform) is a close 2nd and gaining steam.

The commie guns while reliable and fire a nice round, are ergonomically challenged, particularly w/ LOP for a tall guy. I do have fun with my SKS-D if that qualifies.
