He's just a little guy.:D

Hmm. To spice up the thread a little, what are the most common choices between .243 and .270? Common meaning most prevalent and inexpensive factory ammo?

Yeah, the .256 Winchester Magnum was a .357 Magnum case necked down to .257 for Ruger's Hawkeye tilting-breechblock pistol, IIRC.
Yup. The "sorta" revolver. Not a bad idea, really, just strange.

But Marlin also chambered their m62 levermatic in .256 Win.

And, it does fit with the idea of a pretty flat-shooting cartridge, getting a 60 gr. bullet moving at 2,600+ fps. Really not a bad round for smaller game at most hunting distances.

Yup, I love my ugly little Marlin 62.

I'd never hear of that cartridge. That is pretty interesting since a .223/5.56 sends a 55 gr. round at 3,000 fps.

The 6.5 Swede and .257 Roberts are truly in the middle, in terms of case length, capacity and calibre. The Roberts probably more so.

However factory loaded ammo in both doesn't, because it's often loaded down.

If I was looking for something in that midrange I would go no further than the handloaded Swede.

the most common in between are probably the 25-06, 257 roberts and 260 remington

As I recall the popular 7mm-08 is less powerful than the normal factory 270 win loadings. Could be wrong. But it is essentially the same kind of caliber as the 270.
