I was just curious what gun(s) fellow THRs wives, girlfriends or if you are a woman, what gun(s) do you keep around for home defense or carry. It is always interesting to hear what guns women like.

My wife can have any gun that she wants because I will buy her anything that fits her hand and she likes but she keeps a Walther P-1 for her gun. She does not carry but by her side of the bed is the Walther. I feel better knowing that she has a gun to protect herself if something happens when I am not home. She is a good shot and is very familier with how it works and gun safety so I don't worry about her hurting herself or anyone else unless she means to.

I think it is important to let your S.O. choose what gun she/he likes.

Why do you ask in the singular? :p

AAMOF, LSW's current favorite is... a Firestar! She also likes her Charter Bulldog.
And her Traditions "Scout" hawken.
And the Sharps .54 percssion.
And her SKS.
And a bunch that used to be mine... :banghead:

The 686 is 'her' gun. She really likes the Dan Wesson 22 revolver as well. So much so that I had to get a conversion kit for a 1911 so I could shoot with her as I usually can't pry the Wesson out of her hands. :p

Very recently divorced, but wife's gun was a Ruger SP-101 .357.

I really miss that gun.

Stainless Sig P230

Very accurate, easy to break down for cleaning and has a hammer drop rather than a safety.

What my wife shoots

I bought my wife a Glock 17. She loves it. I had to buy it for her, otherwise, she would have "stole" my Glock 21 from me!
She likes the accuracy, the reliability, and the simplicity of the pistol.

She says the DE .50 is mine, but I know better.

Her favorite at the moment is her Ruger GP with a 4" tube.

Past favorites include her 8" python, Ruger P90, and of course her Ruger Mk II. Her favorite rifle is her russian SKS.

She collects most of the handguns, I get to concentrate on long arms.

The Wife's favorite tote around gun is the Rossi M88 that she liberated from me many moons ago. Her favorite range guns are her Glenfield mod 60, that I had to buy her so that I could shoot mine very now and then, and my SKS, "Money Pit". And if one was daft enough to come creeping about the homestead, she's rather fond of the Stevens 311 12ga that rest by the bed.

My wife carries either her Beretta 9000S, or her Beretta 96, or usually her Taurus 357 Snubbie.

Some times she "borrows" one of my guns too.

My girlfriend has basically taken over her dad's meager collection (he never has time to shoot), so an AR15 and a Mossberg 20ga are hers from that way, and I gave her a Turk Mauser for her birthday one year. She's trying to call one of my 1911s and my Rem 870 (she prefers 12ga to 20ga), but I've told her no way is she getting either one.

See, I prefer not to be tied down right now. I'm open, free, and on the prowl. I'm young, after all, so I don't want to get too serious anytime soon.

If you couldn't tell, that's a euphamism for "given my last few disasterous attempts at romantic interaction I've come to the conclusion that I couldn't get a date if my life depended on it".

:D

Thelma's carpal tunnel syndrome makes it tough for her to handle a full-size weapon with a heavy trigger pull. That's why I got her a Kel-Tec P32 for Xmas. Besides, she's already got enough weight in that purse.

KGP-161 in the 6" flavor for my girlfriend. Otherwise she will take my Sig 226.

My sisters boyfriend calls it the little ladys "pea shooter" :what:

Back when my wife was my girlfriend, she expressed interest in learning to shoot. Great, let's go shopping! I have her try out some .380s and some .38s, and she finally says "screw this," unhappy with all of the DA trigger reach issues, and asks to handle a Colt Officer's Model. We still have that pistol today with a short trigger and she has put just about 10,000 rounds through it since we got it.

The Wife claimed S&W 36 as "hers" shortly after getting me a Glock 23 for birthday in 1990. Still also likes plinking with H&R 999 Sportsman.

My daughter is home from college for the summer and shot 4 different handguns with us in a beginner class yesterday. She's getting her first apartment next fall and I've encouraged her to let me get her dialed in on a handgun or shotgun to call "hers". I told her that if she liked The Wife's Model 36, I would start looking to find her a nice used one (Dad thinking $250 - $300 ...).

Although it was not one that we shot yesterday, my daughter did pick up and fondle my most recent aquisition, a Kahr PM9 ... (Dad thinking ... factory night sights, sales tax, shipping, holsters, $750 - $800? ... ). She dry fired it a time or two and said "This one feels pretty good ... How do you spell that? K - A - H - R ? Can I shoot this one next time?"

Wife claims to be a better shot than me, but her is with a needle, (ER RN ). Doesn't care for guns, but after all, she's the one who told me to buy the property, and build the range! Can't fault her for that.
