I do metalworking as a hobby. I was thinking about it the other day, and thought to myself - "Self, you really should build a semi-auto STEN. It won't cost very much, and it would be a neat historically relevant toy."

And I think it would, so I probably will this winter. It got me thinking though - who else would be interested in a semi-auto sten if I made them avaliable for a reasonable price? What is a reasonable price? $100, $150? What other guns would you like to see in production for reasonable prices? PPsh-41? M56? Luger? What is a good price for something like that, assuming it's of good quality?

Thoughts?

(PS, yes I know the legal issues, and i know it would be a paperwork mess, but please entertain the idea for the sake of argument)

There are already a lot of semis out there, both parts and complete guns. Becoming an 07 (manufacturer) isn't that difficult, do some research on it.

I think these sorts of things are best classified as "hobby businesses". You might make enough to support your hobby, but not enough to be a 'real' business.

That said, I think there's a couple of nifty items that could be explored. I haven't seen a semi Beretta M12S yet. As far as price? It's hard to build something like that and sell it for less than $600 or so and still make a profit.

To answer your question, for an m1 i paided about 600 and that would be the top for me of a ww2 weapon. If you made it new i could see buying it for 600 as long as it is not a ww2 item easly found close to 600. Like if you made a m1 i would not buy it as i can get a "real" one cheap and have it be real. Hope you get what i mean.

Would love a sten, but that would be illegal for most buyers right? I am thinking barrel lenght

I would pay a good price for an AK47 in 223,MACHINED entirely from stainless steel.I bet a lot of others would,too...Just an idea...Stamped would be just fine,too...:D

Specifically 223 because throughout the Russian ammo shortage of a few months back,223 was everywhere...;)
