What guns are the french police carrying?

In all the news broadcasts regarding the latest attack in Paris, I see the police/military carrying what looks like submachine guns in a pistol caliber, as evidenced by the thinner magazines. Anyone know what these are and what caliber? Actually, there seems to be various models, but all of them appear to be pistol caliber.

I've seen Beretta M12's and H&K MP5K's as far as the submachine guns go. There's a thread here on it if you scroll around a little.

The submachinegun you're seeing is the Beretta M-12 and handguns are the SIG 2022...they are both chambered in 9x19mm

After seeing all the photos in the media, I've concluded things have changed over there ... my last trip to France, the gendarmerie all seemed to be packing tiny little pistols (.32 caliber Berettas, maybe?) in white fabric-looking holsters on white belts ...
