Just curious what you guys have been shooting. I know some if not most of us have had to make adjustments due to demand and price hikes, unavailability, etc... Are you shooting what you always shot shortage be damned or have you scaled back or found some other cartridge to satisfy to your needs and keep your skills sharp?

Myself, I would typically shoot around a half case a month +/- of both 9mm and .223 during prime shooting season (april-october) and less during the winter but if I had to guess I'd say I've probably shot 400rds or less of 9mm and about half that for .223 total this year. Much, much less than a typical year for me.

I gravitated toward trap shooting starting early this spring when I got my Wingmaster TB and have put somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000-2500 rds of 12ga through it. 12ga target loads have been hit or miss but I was able to shoot 1-2x week and take the sting out of not being able to shoot my 9's and .223 to my hearts desire.

The other thing I did to adjust to the situation was buy a Glock44 .22lr early this year to stay on the handgun. Although to be honest I didn't really take to the G44 like I thought I would. I like it and it's reliable but lately, I take my 10/22 out for a quick walk down the railroad tracks (saves me a trip to the range and is quiet enough not to bother neighbors) and plink away with it and while I get bored with .22lr rather quick, it's been nice to just take a short walk to my spot and plink. I've also brought my much younger brothers along to shoot with me and they've had alot of fun.

Definitely not my typical shooting but with the change in circumstances and enduring shortage, I had to adapt a lil bit. The silver lining out of this whole thing would probably be taking up the trap shooting, opened up a whole new aspect of shooting and enjoyment for me and had it not been for the shortage I might not have tried it.

Since April, 2300 rounds from my TB 870 in three trap leagues and about 100 various slugs, some I cast and some " boughten'". Add in a couple bricks of 22 through my 455CZ, my 10-22 Target, and 1928 52 Win. Some 380s working up loads and about 50 each of hunting loads in 357, 44, and 45 Colt

I'm still working a load for my Tikka t3x.
It's a toss up now between 166 gr Hammer Hunters and Nosler 165 Accubonds.
They both give me sub minute groups at 200.

I was just gifted a 1974 Rem 700 in 7mm mag and after a quick clean and lube. Shot a 1 1/4" group at 200 with factory Remingtom core lokts.
I.lije this rifle.

The girl that gave me the gun also gave me 2 Remington 760 pump guns to sell for her.
One is 30.06 and in excellent condition. The .35 Remington has a bit more use but I'd say it's very good condition.
I'll shoot them both to list a target with the rifles.
Downside is they both have swing away mounts and cheap glass.
They are of 1952 vintage.

Aside from those, I did preliminary sight in of my Marlin 336 30.30 ( 1 inch @ 100), my 760 pump 30.06 @ also 1 inch. And my 20 " Ithaca 12 ga slug gun which shot poorly.

The Ruger redhawk did about 5 inches at 50 for a 6 shot group.

I haven't run my Ars ( except the AR22 conversion) for quite a while even though I have plenty of ammo.

The PA 10 has a hunting load ready. All I need now is for PA to make semis legal for big game.

I didn't shoot the National Ordnance parts gun yet and just about gave up.on the 1924 dated 1916 Spanish 7mm mauser after a 100 rounds or so.

Haven't run pistol much either.
A little short on 10mm but a few k of .40 left.
Plenty of 9, .38, some .357 sig. Low on .41

I only get out every couple weeks but more involved with archery at this point.

Keep shooting

I wish I would have shot my .308 Norma Magnum at a deer last week, or the week before. Unfortunately, deer season closed last Sunday here, and the only deer we seen this year were either too darned far away, or didn't have antlers - it's not that we care much about antlers, it's just that here in Idaho it's illegal to shoot antlerless deer.
At any rate, neither my wife nor I scored a deer this year. So last night we wiped down our rifles and put them away while we were watching the World Series on TV - which we don't care about any more than antlers.;)

Since we took on another large farm this year, the only gun i have been using is a grease gun!

I still enjoy reading your posts about shooting!
I hear that. I was farming just over 100 acres as a side gig. Now I'm moving 5 hours and having to work and haul equipment. I've managed to squeak out time to run a few rounds.
My wife wants me to use her deer rifle this year because it's always zeroed with the only ammo it uses. Mine are in various states of scope swaps and load development.

Pretty much everything, same as usual.

I did cut back on pistol some this summer due to work and screwing my back up. Three months worth of therapy and now I don't feel a day over 61....Last couple of sessions I've been working with my Les Baer as Tuesday evenings our annual IDPA CDP, match when everyone brings a .45ACP and only loads 8+1 max. That will be this afternoons session as well.

Did end up shooting more rifle in prep for an antelope hunt in WY last month. Now I'm prepping for hunting season. Last night I headed out back and verified the zero on one of my coyote rifles. Also got to test my new "sunshade" for my bench:

Was out Friday, temp in mid 40's heavy wind, shot 223. 243win, 7mm08 and a few rounds of 9mm. Distance mostly 100 yds, but shot some steel plates at 300 meters. Initially wanted to test load development for 3 rifle calibers, but high gusting winds and constant direction changes made it difficult. Did manage a few sub moa groups and broke a couple 4 in clay pigeons at 300 meters.

I am blessed. I have an indoor gun store range 15 minutes away. I bought an annual membership for $150 so I can shoot there as much as I want as long as I want. I go there 2 or 3 times a week and spend at least an hour with my revolvers. I shoot slowly, two handed, trying for small groups, at 10 yards. Some days I get a few! My Missus is understanding, and seems glad to get rid of me for a while.

25 rounds of .22LR, plus 20 or 30 rounds of .38 Special handloads in my beloved S&Ws and my J-Frame carry revolver. I don't have to burn a lot of rounds to have a lot of fun. It is my form of meditation. I enjoy listening to folks in neighboring lanes quickly rip off a magazine or two, and seeing their shotgun patterns at 5 and 7 yards. I get a little ego boost from shooting smaller groups than the others.

I wish you all were so lucky. I would be honored for you to be my guest if you are ever in Springfield, Mo.

Been mounting new scopes, bore sighting and working up loads for a Savage .223, Zastava 7mm-08, Ruger M-77 in both .280Rem and 7mm Rem Mag, Winchester Mod 70 in .308, .300WM and .338WM, and a Marlin 444 in .444 Marlin!

Oh, and I did buy a new pistol...a Taurus G2C to see what the hype was. Turns out it's a very nice, inexpensive shooter. 12 round double stack 9mm and I was punching fist sized groups at 10yards with it. Functioned flawlessly for the first 120 rounds I've put through it. It'll replace my Walther PPK as my EDC.

Now that everything is on paper I can start working up some loads for a couple of them. I went on a scope buying spree replacing some old glass with new!

These have been getting the most use lately.

Top : Colt 1911 22 Gold Cup. I just bought it and it only has 300 rounds though it so far but it works 100% of the time. It had a horrible trigger so I put in a Cylinder & Slide trigger kit and brought it down to 4.5 pounds from just over 9 pounds.

Bottom: Volquartsen Black Mamba. This is my favorite and comes to the range with me every time. I shoot it for Steel Challenge competitions and it runs flawlessly. It's way more accurate then I am but it's got the cool factor and I like it.

It's got all the VQ upgrades, a C-More Railway red dot with 12 MOA dot and grips from StonerCNC.com.

Haven't been able to shoot much at all lately. Just went yesterday for the first time in about 6 months. Shot a few new guns, a Beretta APX, compact CZ 75, and a HK p30sk. LOVE the HK! I replaced the 14 # hammer spring with the 10# and it shoots really well. After warming up and seeing the point of aim at 12 yards I moved to the 12" steel target at 50 yards for fun and was hitting 5/10. Not bad for the first outing! The CZ is a CZ, one of the best DA/SA one their IMHO. The APX I thought I would really like because the trigger felt really nice when dry firing but for some reason really pinched my finger during live fire. It may not stick around which saddens me because for a polymer striker it felt a lot better than a Glock trigger when I was checking it out at the store so I had high hopes. Maybe I'll give it a second chance??

I took my 1898 KJ to the range last week and tested my last reloads.
it was a promising result I would say.

Using a 9mm pistol to punch 600 holes per week in paper. I've got a few months of this rate before primers might make me adjust.

When we bough this farm in 01, first thing I did as to clear and build a 250 meter rifle range with a 15’ high berm, i shoot when, I feel the need for speed. However, for the last 80 days I have been on restriction, no shooting, by my surgeon. Had a little procedure, Dr said at 76, I now have the heart of of a 30 year old, so pretty good trade off. I have 10 more days of no pulling, pushing, sanding, shooting or lifting over 4 lbs. The stupid box has not gotten any smarter by the way.
