Just curious what you guys have been shooting. I know some if not most of us have had to make adjustments due to demand and price hikes, unavailability, etc... Are you shooting what you always shot shortage be damned or have you scaled back or found some other cartridge to satisfy to your needs and keep your skills sharp?
Myself, I would typically shoot around a half case a month +/- of both 9mm and .223 during prime shooting season (april-october) and less during the winter but if I had to guess I'd say I've probably shot 400rds or less of 9mm and about half that for .223 total this year. Much, much less than a typical year for me.
I gravitated toward trap shooting starting early this spring when I got my Wingmaster TB and have put somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000-2500 rds of 12ga through it. 12ga target loads have been hit or miss but I was able to shoot 1-2x week and take the sting out of not being able to shoot my 9's and .223 to my hearts desire.
The other thing I did to adjust to the situation was buy a Glock44 .22lr early this year to stay on the handgun. Although to be honest I didn't really take to the G44 like I thought I would. I like it and it's reliable but lately, I take my 10/22 out for a quick walk down the railroad tracks (saves me a trip to the range and is quiet enough not to bother neighbors) and plink away with it and while I get bored with .22lr rather quick, it's been nice to just take a short walk to my spot and plink. I've also brought my much younger brothers along to shoot with me and they've had alot of fun.
Definitely not my typical shooting but with the change in circumstances and enduring shortage, I had to adapt a lil bit. The silver lining out of this whole thing would probably be taking up the trap shooting, opened up a whole new aspect of shooting and enjoyment for me and had it not been for the shortage I might not have tried it.
