What if you were given $2000 to spend on a single new handgun? What would you get? What you have done to it?

C96 Broomhandle Mauser.

Oh. You said "new"...

Hmmm... Either a Baer TRS or a Wilson CQB; whichever I found first.

Maybe a Freedon Arms in 44 mag.
What you have done to it?
For two grand I better not have to have anything done to it! But I probably would add a scope.

Freedom Arms Field Grade in .454 Casull, 4 3/4" barrel, go for the action job and the black micarta grips, and one of there cross draw holters to boot. :D

$990 Colt 1911A1 WWII Reproduction
$500 Customization to make a colt acceptable
$375 500 Rounds of Corbon 230 Grain .45ACP +P
$125 Fedora
$10 Lots and Lots of Toothpicks (ala Chow Yun Fat)
the look on the BG's face, priceless

In order to fit those stipulations, I would go with a Pre-ban Krinkov SBR 223 built on a Norinco 84 reciever with a folding stock and a 30 rounder loaded with ballistic tips.
My permit says I can carry a firearm, it doesn't say it has to be a handgun. :)
I'd need a custom holster.....

Right now? A single brand new hand gun? Probably a really good deal on a Springfield Pro. If I couldn't get one under $2,000, then a Rock River Arms Limited Match with Novak sights. If I didn't want to wait 18 months, then probably a HK P7M8 and several cases of ammo.

Buy a second Glock 17 $470. Add Mep nightsights $65, 3.5# trigger job $65, & extended mag catch $30/slide stop $18 total $178. W/ pistol $178 + $470 = $648. New holster $110. $648 + $110 = $758. $2,000 - $758 = $1242. Spend the $1242 on a national training school, 5 days.

A Daisy Red Ryder BB gun, Wal Mart edition ($24.95). 18 k Gold BB's to shoot right out that fine barrel. Custom engraving on the stock saying: My best friend. With me through the good times, never left me in the bad times.

And then I would take the remaining $1900 and buy a kick butt 1911

:D
