With $250 you can have a Walther P1 or with another $19 a CZ40B from CDNN. Another thought is a house brand S/A Six Shooter from Cabella's, it is supposed to be a great revolver for the money. I also like the idea of a Makarov and 91/30 rifle. Lastly, I am a big fan of the Star BM. Regards, Richard:D

These are what I got for under $250

Ruger single six $190
Glock G19 won in a contest
had a S&W 65 4" $259
had a S&W 66 4" $250

I'll list the guns that you guys have voted for so I know where I am at:

1. S&W 357 (Have a bunch of these so it wouldn't be anything new and exciting, probably will get more anyway)

2. Ruger Security Six (just got one, I also have a Speed Six and owned two others).

3. S&W J-frame, ( had a bunch, now have a 642)

4. CZ-52 (had one, sold it because ammo was pricy)

5. Makarov (had one, sold it because I didn't like it)

6. Star BM ( great gun, have one)

7. Arcus (maybe, they look interesting, a FEG is also a possibilty but I am not that big of a BHP fan)

8. Ruger GP100 DAO (got one)

9. Colt Walker cap and ball revolver replica (had a Ruger black power revovler but it was too much hassle to load and clean)

10. Used Ruger .22 semi-auto pistol (had a few, have one now)

11. Buckmark (got one)

12. Mosin 91/30 (got one)

13. bersa thunder 380 ( got a Bersa 383-A and a Bersa 23, great guns maybe a Thunder)

14. couple MILSURP rifles (got more than a couple of them already :D )

15. Walther P1 (got one)

16. CZ40B (had one, not a .40S&W fan)

In the running still:
Ruger Single Six, Bersa Thunder 380, FEG or Arcus, more S&W and Ruger revolvers, SA .357 or .38spl. I think I will forget about the Tec .22 because I had a Tec-9 that was totaly unreliable and totaly inaccurate, one of the biggest POS I ever had.

I'm in a similar situation now. have $600 burning a hole in my pocket yet unsure exactly what to buy. If it were only $250, I'd proberly buy another Ruger .22 autoploader. Fun little plinker and easily upgradeable at anytime later if wanted.

Well, I personally would probably pick up a C&R milsurp rifle because that's my idea of a "cool, fun gun just to have for $250."

But as far as handguns go I would try to find a used S&W .357 or if I was buying new I'd go with the Arcus Hi-Power clone. :D

bersa .380

Mine has been reliable and fun to shoot. I have introduced two new shooters to firearms with this piece. Both really liked the feel of the gun.

Good luck

Consider a Firestar -
or the Polish version of the Tokarev -
or a shotgun! Great fun for $250 in an 870 Express or used Wingmaster.

I just bought a Walther P-22 at a gunshow for $225.00.

Neat little gun -- too bad I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet!:(

Had a few, they don't do much for me. I don't like Ruger Autos.

Ah, but the question is what would I get.:)

I would also look at a CZ-52, with aftermarket firing pin, ammo and goodies.

Another wheelgun, a smallish S&W .38.

If I could find on in that range, a Beretta or Browning .380 auto. Or yet another Makarov.

RAP401! It's a 32 oz. 8+1 9mm BUT it's reliable and loads of fun. I didn't own a Stainless or even a gun with a hammer (LOVE GLOCKS) so this fit my need. Paid $275 for it.

Anyone can buy a Toyota but there's something about an old MG, Triumph, etc. That's how I explain my feelings for this gun from South Africa. They make the 440 in 40 caliber too.

It's not for everyone but...

I'd save it. If you absolutely have to spend it then I'd vote Makarov. I found a stainless Russian Mak at my local dealer, price is $200. It's hard to beat a Bulgarian Mak for $130 though.

Used Mossberg 500 fer shure with 18.5" bbl, in Marine configuration if the market will bear. " Helll-lloo intruder!"
:D Sure, it's not a handgun. A gunfight doesn't have to be fair, does it?

that would depend on what "niche" in

my "collection" I thought was "unfilled", or whom I was going to give the gun to, I suppose. I'm quite content with the 4 handguns that I have, and I don't get enough time to really use those 4 nearly enough. I have plenty of fun with those 4, so I'd buy more ammo or components, not another pistol.

I would buy my cousins redhawk that he offerd to me last week for $250! Now in your case I would look around for a good used revolver in .357 or 38.

"I have always wanted a Single Action cowboy type gun but never saw the need other than the fun factor"

Then you are talking a Millenium SSA clone from Cabala's in 45 LC. CDNN has an AWA in their current catalogue that looks ok but I don't have any experience with AWA products so, buyer beware.

For a "FEW Dollars More" would could step up to a Ruger Vaquero. Excellent product.

...if you reload even better.
