What is the best .22 LR. round for eliminating pests?

for close-in work I like the CCI CB Longs (75' or less), nice and quiet, you need headshots on anything bigger than a cottontail rabbit and to keep it in place. I have one scoped .22 bolt that is sighted in for this.
I have always been partial to the Winchester Dynapoint, at least in older loads was pretty accurate and gave pretty good penetration on stuff up to woodchuck size. I'd have to go look, but think the PowerPoint has this version of a dimple in the nose rather than a hollow point. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

When I have to take out a possum or something, I shoot CCI CB shorts. They're quieter than my pellet rifle and they hit a LOT harder. I'm inside the city limits, so technically, I'm not supposed to shoot anything with gun powder in it, but I take out a possum now and then. :D

I like the Winchester Super X it is a good 22 round
Winchester has a variety of hot loads now from the 40 grain 1,330 fps to the 26 grain 1,640 fps round nose I believe. I still prefer the CCI Stingers and the Aguila hot loads.

Why stinger 327? I live in the country and have two barn cats that I suppliment their diet with dry cat food. I need to be able to hit at 75 yards. CCI Mini Mags and my M290 Winchester do a fine job...

Love the hottest loads for maximum damage.

In the Sportsman's Guide just saw a .177 Benjamin air rifle rated at 1,500 fps cost is $299.

Stinger. I have several .22 rifles and one Colt Woodsman. Of all the .22 ammunition that I have ran through these guns the Mini-mags perform the best over all. Yes I do have a couple of guns that would prefer something else and the Colt Woodsman does lousy with stingers. So to keep one that performs well in all I use CCI 40 grain Mini-Mags. I do use the 36 grain HP on armadillos.

last wabit I shot was by Wolf Match Extra Subsonic 40 gr bullet at subsonic 1050 fps. "Subsonic 22 Ammo is preferred by many small game hunters. The slower velocity is believed to put more "Whack" on small game."

But isn't this unusual for a revolver (Mod. 617) when the cyclinder stops rotating before last shot =10 shots?

In my experience they all work about the same, and they are all deadly. Federal bulk pack 36gr hollow points kill small animals just as dead as stingers and such. For very small game like squirrels and cottontails, stingers seem to leave a bigger hole but it isn't necessary. If it's just gore you're after, shoot 'em with a bigger rifle.
.22 LR is still more ecomical to shoot than a larger rifle and caliber.

I just took care of a wabbit he was decimating my wife's garden there are still 10 or more in the vicinity, I used Remington Subsonic, probably 35 yards neck shot here is an exit wound ... he never had a chance, or well I will cook him now ;-)

I used the winchester and aguila subsonic in my Buckmark and it jammed using the Winchester Not enough power to eject brass.

I used Remington, aguila, wolf subsonic in my REM597, I never had problem with ejection, its probably tension on your ejection spring, there should be a way to adjust it.
The wabit above is year old, so wrong wabit :) here is recent one...

THat 40 gr HP WInchester Suiper X is one nasty round.
What are the specs on this bullet?
The Stinger HP, segmented HP and Aguila are the only .22LR I know that have longer casings over all other .22 LR brands.
I have heard good things about Remington Yellow Jackets also .

Stinger...Not sure how the revolver got into the mix. I never mentioned any revolvers. Besides. I don't own a .22 revolver.

I have no idea. I'd have to look at it.
