CZ P-01 for me. Loved it stock, love it more with the Cajun Gun Works upgrades ... my other guns have become safe queens.
AgreedCZ-75B... if you like/want 'all-metal'... a fantastic, classic pistola!!
Second, probably Glock... if you like/want a 'poly-gun' and the hand-fit works for you.

Yep.For me it's a glock 19 gen 3

Gen 3 is better than Gen 4 at this point in time?
Those with experience say the Gen4 Glocks are optimized for the .40 S&W offerings (G22, 23, 27, 35). Initially, some of the early Gen4 Glocks in 9mm had some minor issues.
I like my old G17 (mid 80's), and the XDsc9, XDsc40 and my XDm40 are all really quite nice too.
The best for me was not under $600...but rather $400. S&W's SD9VE. It's the new kid on the block but I think 20 years from now it will be spoken of with awe and a gleam in the eye of every gun owner existent.
Peacebutready,
Have you shot the gun? The trigger pull is measured at around 8 pounds and is quite smooth with some slight stacking before breaking. I really like the trigger a good deal.
There is a trigger replacement kit from Apex that many are fond of.
