What is the most painful to shoot pistol?

A 2 1/2" Python full weight loads with the small grips tears up my hand badly.

With large grips it is OK. Either way I quit shooting it, it is no fun.

Of the guns I've shot its a tie between the xd45 and bersa thunder...the 45 might have hurt more with the cheap plastic grip safety digging into my hand.

The wood grips on the P-64 don't increase its width or handle length. They only add a hump at the rear to make it fit your hand better. It has no effect on concealment whatsoever as the overall profile of the gun does not change. Get Marschal grips. You won't be sorry. I've got them on my Makarov and P-64. My father also has them on his P-64.

The original Marschals do actually add length (the wood hangs over the bottom of the frame) and width (both in the width from L-R and front-to-back). It's probably impossible to make the wood as thin as the plastic as even the thicker wood grips still have had some fracture problems in the rear part of the grips.

Now he did make some shorter grips that do not length more recently that are more like the length of the stock plastic grips.

This view shows the wood is extended beyond the frame:

Not trying to be a jerk...just thought I'd pass the info on to anyone who might find it helpful.

Charter Arms Bulldog in 44mag.

Well not me but the dude that had it Im sure would agree.

Was showing it off as a new gun, went down range, shot it one time, then came up to me on his way out and asked if I'd be interested in buying it! He says, "Man it shoots awesome!!"

lol

Kel-tec PF9 hurts me the most. Snaps very hard shocking my entire arm and has very sharp edges on the grip that tears up your hand eventually. Not to mention I have to wrap my trigger finger in tape to keep it from giving me a nasty blister.

Picked up a S&W Night Watch 7-shot 386 with a 6" barrel (Scandium L-Frame, I think). Wonderful when shooting .38 specials (even +P). Not so much when shooting .357 magnums. Really kills the web of my hand. It has rubber grips, but they don't cover the backstrap at the top of the grip, so you don't get any cushion there.

Ejecting cases more than 30' is a sure sign or a worn out recoil spring, so as many have mentioned replace it. I had a similar problem with a PA-63, and the recoil spring fixed it, a new hammer spring fixed the trigger pull, it turned out to be a great carry piece.

HATED my Keltec P3!! About 3 clips and it got traded away. Lots of other funs that don't bother me from Super Redhawks to Kahr .40 to S&W642- but that P3 was miserable!!

My least favorite guns to shoot, in order:
Walther PPK-the one I shot was like getting hit in the palm with a ball peen hammer repeatedly.
Taurus 85 with 158 grain +P ammo-I felt good carrying it but I sure didn't shoot it often.
Last...the Sig P239 in 9mm-somethin was just off about that gun, the ergos don't work for me and I found it very unpleasant to shoot.

A stronger recoil spring will definately help, Wolff sells an extra power which I'm going to get the next time I make out an order for springs. The stock springs are about as stiff as the Makarov, however, the slide is so much more slenderly contoured it doesn't have the mass to really buffer the power of the 9mm Mak round.

I really do like the pistol, I consider it quite a value at the $139 or so dollars I paid for it. It looks to have seen very little use, and is very well made. I like the chrome lining in the bore, this seems to be standard to a lot of eastern block guns. I wish more US made guns had it. I really haven't fired a lot of rounds out of it, but those that I have, it's been 100% reliable, the sights are right on, and it seems to be very accurate (I haven't benched it on paper yet, but it'll whack pop cans easily at 25 yards.
My LCP used to shoot shells out like that....switch the recoil spring and it helped a lot.

Walther PPK/S can be a bit of a slide biter at times and thats not a picnic. Im not really bothered by recoil for the most part.

Shot a buddies T/C Contender in .35 Rem. Now, I have a Marlin 336 in .35 and should have realized exactly how much a pistol chambered in .35 would kick, but I threw common sense out the window and had a moderate case of scope-eye... I suppose that would be the most painful pistol I've shot if only due to my brain fart

I know I know off topic but the most pain ful is the one that shoots better than my own. I hate to shoot a buddies gun better than my own pistols.

but other than that my 380 SW small grip is a PITA

A lot of REVOLVERS in this autoloader forum. I guess he didnt specify.

I'm adding +1 to Ruger LCP .380 as I have more problems with little guns than big ones.

My bro carries one. Its engraved and very pretty. But I have big hands and this little guy loves to bite me. I also can't hold it very well and seems to kick back into the web of my hands. Its got such a skinny profile its putting all the pressure on a tiny point, thats what gets me!

I was surprised to see the .500 SW! I love that one and could shoot it all day, wallet willing.
