I've owned Remington 700BDL, 740 Woodsmaster and Winchester 94. I sold my last BDL because I was going to upgrade to the XCR, only thing is, Remington discontinued the XCR in left hand.

Now I'm looking to buy a couple of deer rifles. Maybe lever action, semi auto (AR 10?), and/or LH bolt.

What do you use?

1. Stevens Model 200 in 300 Win Mag
2. Remington Model 700 in 270 Win
3. Winchester Model 70 in 7mm Rem Mag

Stevens takes the most trips. Killed the most with the Winchester. .270 is the oldest of the lot, but have only taken a handful compared to the others.

All are fine shooters. I expect the .270 to take over once I get some handloads cooked up...I feel that I have neglected it and have not used it to its potential.

I also have my grandpa's Sears and Roebuck Win 94 whenever I want it. I just can't stand the thought of taking that rifle from him though, he's still a lively man for 76 years and he might decide to take a hunting trip with me one day.

i use an older (boat paddle stock) ruger m77 mkii stainless in 260rem. it is topped with a bushnell 3-9x40. it shoots so well and is so efective i have had no reason to buy a new rifle or try something else. eventually i would like to upgrage to a better optic and a better stock.

Remington 700 BDL .30-06 it is at least 30 years old, inherited from my Grandfather....he barely ever used it so it is in great shape. Never killed a deer with it though...shot a Turkey with it, but not many places I can legally hunt with a rifle.

Winchester model 1894 .30-30...Serial number traces back to 1968, also inherited. Shot a doe at 60-75 yards with it...she moved about 10 feet before she collapsed dead.

1. Marlin 336 .30-30, open sights

2. Tikka T3 hunter .25-06

3. Browning Bar .30-06

Remington 788 in .243 with off the shelf ammo.

It's been my deer and antelope rifle for the past 20 years.

Ruger .270, BUT, after getting the 6.8 spc AR-15 and working up some loads, I am really leaning towards using the AR this season.

Sporterized 1903 seen here.

I also would like to take my custom Montana 1999-actioned .35 Whelen, Remington 7600 .35 Whelen, or even (for practice) my .308 SPR.

Model 70 7mm Mag
Model 70 .270
Savage .308
H&R .243
model 94 .30-30 (opens)
model 94 .30-30 (scoped)

The newest is the .308; it will likely see exclusive deer duty for the year. The scoped 94 will get put to work on hogs; it is w/ the GS now getting some trigger work done & will resume front seat duty for non-hunting trips to the ranch.

I mostly glass and stalk through manzanita brush and scrub oak so the Marlin 1894 in 44 mag gets the most common call. If I'm carrying a black bear tag as well I might use the Marlin 1895G.

I like the levers and I like the Marlins.

Win. Model 94 30/30 24" octagon barrel open sights
K31 w/clamp on mount and Nikon 3x9x40
SKS w/ TechSights

I'd like to find a Centurion 7mm Remington Magnum at a reasonable price. I didn't know much about P14s or 1917s when they were being sold.

Remington Model Seven in .308
Remington 700 BDL in .30-06

Also in the safe is a Model Seven in .243 that two of my kids took their first deer with.

Rem 700 ADL in 30-06 topped with Redfield 3-9x. Rifle was Kmart purchase for $200, my how things have changed.
