i subscribe to many of the above when i am deployed so i have a constant wave of gun related reading material.

my favorite would have to be guns and ammo they have a great variety and though i am more into handguns they have a good variety of long gun articles, enough to keep me happy. plus most of my favorite writers are there.

i have subscribed to shooting times for many years, but they are a little slack on many occasions and sometimes they get a great issue, sometimes they have one or two good articles, and maybe once there has been a whole issue that i liked.

Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement: this is a good magazine, but it seems to me that they always do reviews on ar's and charile cutshaw always does them, and he always has to throw that darn laser device, surefire foregrip light and all that jazz. the covers always look the same and it gets old sometimes.

shotgun news to me is more of the want adds and for sale adds than a magazine i really don't consider it a true magazine, i do like it when they have the colored issues ever so often they normally have some good stuff.

i am a big fan of combat handguns, though most of the stuff they feature i wouldn't consider " combat effective", or hard use enough, or handguns that i would carry in a firefight if i had a choice.

As member of NRA & TSRA, I get their pubs, but also sub to several. G&A, Rifle Shooter, Guns and SGN. Particularly like Conner's "Odd Angry Shot". He nails it dead on in my opinion. Taffin has a good column too. Skelton writes some good stuff. Problem is, I read through them way before the next issue comes in. Heck all those are good pubs in my mind. No particular favorite though. Each has it's own merits.

Other: But sure as heck would NOT be SWAT :D

I only buy magazines when there is a good article(s) nowadays. I like Dennis Prisbey and John Taffin but, find myself looking at used book stores and garage sales for old Skeeter Skelton and Elmer Keith writings. I like Bill Jordan and Charlie Askins too. I am too young to even know these gentleman but, their writings are timeless IMO.

Not too many writer like that nowadays. A few but, not many....IMO.

www.gunblast.com an on line magazine I occasionally look at. Otherwise it's just forums like TFL/THR for me. I stopped buying gun rags a couple of years ago. I still get the Sporting Shooter magazine as part of my membership of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australian, but only read it for the adverts.

American Handgunners was the last mag I still bought, but with the spread of high quality cheap digital cameras I can get my gun porn on line. Sorry Ichiro.

Have a sub to "American Rifleman" and like it fine but, codger-in-training that I am, I'd have to say that "Backwoodsman" has my favorite type of articles about a lot of my favorite type of "state of the art in 1900, works as good now as it did then, blued steel and walnut" guns. Not to mention the other useful stuff in each issue. Besides "American Rifleman", it's the only mag I subscrbe to and definately the only one that interests me from cover to cover. Run by a nice fella, too.

*No, I don't work for the magazine, neither.:D
