What is your favorite Magnum?

For the record, this would be my order

.357 magnum
.44 magnum
.41 magnum (I'd probably put this #2 if ammo was easier to get, but I do NOT reload)
.32 magnum family (of this family, I prefer .327 magnum)
.22 magnum


The .45 and .500 magnums are too much gun for me, and I typically avoid them -- fired enough of them to know that they are too punishing for me to enjoy shooting them.

If you do not reload, then the .357 is the most versatile.

If you DO reload, then the .44 magnum takes the title.

Hello friends and neighbors // .357 for me.

I have enjoyed shooting and reloading for the .44 but as stated now prefer the .357 and do not reload.

I do keep all my brass, looking forward to the day I will have/make the time to get set up. I also have a couple of Lee hand loaders for emergency use.

Here in the East there is little a .357 revolver and rifle combo can't handle.

You can get a S&W or Ruger .357 revolver for under $400.00 (used )here in upstate S.C. almost any day.

.41 Mag, far and away.

Second choice is .357 Mag. I own three times as many revolvers in this caliber but shoot about 1/4 as many rounds. I guess that would put the .41 Mag up by a 12:1 ratio.

The Ruger GP-100 is the revolver for me. I love that gun; I've got it in the 6" version. It is the most accurate handgun I own.

.357 - enough power to take out any wild game in my state. IMO heavy loads are the optimal combination of recoil, accuracy, and damage inflicted.

You won't be sorry Paul. If you're a handloader, the .41 experience is enhanced. If you're a bullet caster, the RCBS 210 cast with wheelweight with about 2% tin added...along with Unique and 2400 powder...and you're set. The recipes are simple.

9 grains Unique for yeoman service...18 grains 2400 and you're loaded for bear.

I have as much fun shooting .357's in my Taurus 2" 617 as I do in my 6" Python. Can't see having as much fun with anything bigger in the short gun.

I voted 45 family.

Specifically some sort of Performance Center S&W 460 Magnum.

This seems like the most versitile magnum handgun to me. I don't like recreational shooting with the 460 or even 454 loads but for those several times a year when I wanted to pack those loads it would be nice.

I was otherwise very tempted to vote 357. It is the cartridge I have used the most and I really like it

Another .41 Magnum fan, Smith 57s, not a close call. Plenty of brass, Unique and 2400 and molds to last the rest of my days. Maybe a few JSPs too. I do wish Lee made their .41 210 in the 6-banger.

Die-hard .41 fan here. For my money, it's the perfect revolver cartridge. I wish Ruger would offer it in a New Vaquero with caveats to limit full-power ammo for strictly business. 210 cast and 8 grains Unique mated to the NV is my idea of a perfect general purpose sixgun.

I voted .357 because I shoot it more, but I love my .44 as well. Both are set up for hunting, and I reload.
My heavy hitters...
686 with Weaver Classic 2X

Ruger Super Blackhawk with Simmons Pro hunter 4X-I know it's ugly to some, but it works for me. It often goes back to iron and wood for range fun-a 20 minute changeover.

And for the little critters, Single Six .22mag cyl with Millett Red Dot.

For my needs , the 357 magnum is the most versatile..

of all my revolvers. I could get by without the 44 magnum but not the 357.
