What new weapons should we realistically look forward to when(if) the AWB goes bye-bye permanently in September?

I know we'll see all sorts of AR variants with all of the appropriate evil looking bits put back on, but I don't have any real desire to own one. I'm especially interested in pistol caliber weapons, since it's much easier for me to find a place to shoot them. So what should I be saving my pennies for?

Can international manufacturers immediately start importing semi-auto rifles? Or are they still subject to some sort of Importation Ban? What would they have to do to get new weapons to our domestic market?

Will HK sell new rifles to civilians? Something like the Canadian SL8/4? You know, a black, .223 rifle with a red HK logo?

Will Sigarms sell the 550 or equivalent style rifle to civilians? Do they already and I'm just ignorant of the fact?

Will anyone sell a semi-auto, MP5-like, shoulder fired 9mm with a 30 round magazine and a folding stock? <---That's what I really want.

So what's on its way, if anything?

I realize that I asked a lot of questions, but it's only because I haven't heard any clear-cut answers as of yet. Is it still too early to tell?

I think the manufacturer's are planning for both eventualities. They have as much of an interest in what the market will be in September as the rest of us do.

If it weren't for the %$#@ing BATFE dweebs, I'd be wishing for a MP5SF from the new HK plant, registered as an SBR. Unfortunately, because an MP5SF MIGHT be turned into a full-auto weapon, I can't own one. :cuss: :fire: :banghead: :(

Unless a BATF "ruling" has recently changed the importation rules, we should see quite a few more US-parts imported guns. If the imported parts count is below 10 just like the current romanian AK guns, certain FALs, etc, they should still be able to import them. I'm hoping we see a flood of nice weapons. I'd like to see affordable Valmets, Galils, Sigs, FNCs, Daewoos, etc imported again. Oh happy day indeed. If nothing else I'm sure a few companies will be setting up shop in the US to make completely US made versions if nessecary... We've already got a couple AK companies here now, doesn't DSA make 100% US FALs, etc? Anyway, should be interesting, I need to go on a buying spree not long after the sunset...

I have a dream where in the shelves are stocked with
a plethora of HKs, FNs, Tavors and Augs.

I especially like the part where Vendela hands me the civilian FN2000

Isn't an MP5 (any variant) a full auto anywyas? There was the SP89 (semi-auto version but a different model) but that's long oop.

don't think there'll be any new models for a while. You really think the manufacturers are gonna invest capital in products that may not be allowed. perhaps accessories and add-ons will become the standard thing but doubtful of any 'new" models.

civilians still get semi autos
ye must have the kings seal to buy a full auto
;)

i wonder if Thermold is gonna reappear with AR mags

"...Canadian SL8/4..." The what? All H&K rifles are prohibited(evil) here. Unless you had one before 1 Jan 95, you can't have one.

AFAIK, BATFE considers any MP5 a full-auto weapon because of the push pin trigger assembly. The MP5SF is an MP5 with only single fire and safe. In a sane world you could own an MP5SF as an SBR, just not the full auto trigger group. Then again, in a sane world you'd laugh at the MP5SF as you toyed with your new MP5N and MP5SD! :D :(

Hkmp5sd is the one who should be talking about this, not me. I've never even fired an MP5! I held one once though, does that count? :neener:

If we assume that HK will still be producing the MP-5 series, and that they will be willing to sell to civilians, you could get a HK-94, which is a semi-only MP-5 without the push-pin reciever. Really, every MP-5 in civilian hands is a HK-94 converted to full-auto, because machine guns have been illeagal to import since 1968.

Untrue. You can still buy the semi-auto HK SP89 if you can find one. The reason you can't buy a new one is because of the 1989 import ban. If you look in the catalogs you will see that S&W has been manufacturing a domestic version of the MP5, again, only a semi auto, and you cannot put a fore grip on it without violating the 1994 AW ban.

This is also the reason for why you can still buy all of the various incarnations of the Tec-9.

This thread is making me a little bit sad, I have to say.
Observe my unfortunate State ban, which has no sunset provision:
http://www.state.ct.us/dps/SLFU/FirearmsAssaultWeaponsList.htm

Any thoughts on new new products (new designs/manufacturers) I might expect to see? A Tavor would be nice, but I suspect it's import banned?

Also, somewhat off topic, who owns an Algimec Agmi? Or an Encom MK-IV? of all the incredibly obscure and uncommon things they could have banned...

Do you have any information on this S&W clone? I couldn't find anything on their website. I assume it has the extended barrel like the Atlantic clones on gunbroker?

Does it accept all of the MP5 parts? Like "preban" mags, folding stock and fore grip?

I'm seriously interested in some sort of MP5-like firearm and would really appreciate any help you guys can provide in locating information on this type of rifle. Specifically name brand clones. I want a VERY reliable clone if I can't have the real thing.

Screw the MP5 variants (at least for me, for now).

I want a domestic semi Uzi for the REALISTIC price of $500. 16" barrel is fine... I want the folding stock. I want to be able to put a good US-made folding stock on my AK that'll fit me (I'm a big guy). I want to buy 40rd mags for 10 bucks. I want to buy drums for $50.

I also want an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, a nice $700,000,000,000 (seven billion dollars), a 12-level mansion in the desert, my own private island, and be a famous filmmaker/writer/pilot. And married to the girl of my dreams.

So far? I've got a pilot's log, in my name, with no less than 1 logged hour of actual flying time. :D The rest of the dream will become reality...

I hope. :)
