Dear All-
I am acquiring a J-frame for CHL, and I was wondering what the best pocket holster would be. I will be carrying in loose dress pants of the dockers variety, (old navy brand), and I am wondering what pocket holster to use. I am looking for something that is very good at keeping the gun from printing, and also, that will allow me to draw the gun from the pocket with a reasonably swift draw.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I pocket carry my 642 in an Uncle Mikes Sidekick size 4 holster. Tough, cheap and does a good job of breaking up the outline in the pocket. And I like synthetic holsters for pocket carry as they tend to protect the gun from summer sweat.

I carry my 642 in a Mika. I love it. Stays in the pocket when I draw. None of my cust. or my co-workers have noticed.

Personally...

...the only pocket hoster that has ever made me happy is the PCS No See-Um Straight from Lightning Arms Sports. All others I have tried either would not allow me to obtain a full firing grip while the gun is in the pocket, would not keep the gun stable when I sit down or fail to mask its shape. This does not mean that this holster is the right choice for everyone else but PCS does offer a few different options.

One caveat: I find that Levi's Dockers are made of pretty flimsy material and would put an iron-on patch in the area on the inside of the pants leg where the sharp corner at the upper, front edge of the holster will rub.

I like the Mika best http://www.frontiernet.net/~akim/pocket.htm

It allows a full grip before drawing and is smooth and conceals well. It has a closed bottom and protects my 640 well, but it does ride a little high in the pocket for Dockers. Travel-Smith pleated "Comfort-Sizers" http://www.travelsmith.com/jump.jsp...UCT&path=1,2,251,258&iProductID=1306&sortBy=0 have deep pockets and are very comfortable.

Duluth Trading Company 5 pocket jeans also have deep pockets and work well for pocket carry.

If anyone has found other deep pocket slacks, I would like to hear about them. These fit my needs well, but it is always good to expand the options.

I'm kind of partial to a certain brand of holsters, but there are many out there that work great. Good luck on choosing.

+1 for the Mika pocket holsters. I have them for my J frames, Seecamp, Beretta 21a & PPKS. High quality, durable, stay put, and inexpensive too.
Made by a retired LAPD officer. What's not to like?

I have tried the Nemesis, and Uncle Mike's. They are flimsy, and over-sized. I have heard Mika's are good, but haven't tried one.

I have a KRAMER and its great, very compact, but does a great job holding my J-frame in the same position. They are very sturdy, and the leather will "shape" to your body after several weeks. They cost about $80, or so, but will last you a long time. I HIGHLY recommend the Kramer.

Go with Bob Mika. Great product, great guy, and he signs the inside of it with his and your names!

Nothing like hand made custom holsters - on the cheap!

glockman19 says:
Pocket Cary of a J-frame, I like the Desantis Nenesis or Mika.

I have both and prefer the Mika roundcut. I'm sure there are others as mentioned above that work equally well but you can't beat the price of the Mika and Robert's customer service is first rate.
Since he is backed up with orders by a few weeks you can do as many of us have, get the DeSantis Nemesis first, you can probably land one in under two weeks. The Mika will follow shortly then decide which you prefer.

I like an Uncle Mike's #3. It's inexpensive, effective, conceals well, prevents printing, and it keeps sweat off the gun. Eventually, the muzzle will wear a hole in the bottom, and at that time it can be replaced for under $20.
