Just curious, with all the talk among gun owners about how horrible it would be if Clinton or Obama were to win the presidency. Who are gun owners leaning towards? Honestly I haven't been keeping up with who is pro-gun nowadays or at least who is non-threating to gun owners.

It is sad to say this, but I honestly don't know.

I am still in the mode of Anyone but Hillary or Obama.

I've seen the mayor of Boston talking about running, but it will be very hard for me to vote for him. I have heard all my life "Never trust a MA politician with your guns."

The real question is who is going to run that CAN beat the worst of them.
Yes, I AM talking about the lesser of the two evils, and that will be what we have to do.

If Jeb Bush runs....

I like his views on guns:
Use a Gun and You’re Done

During the commission of a crime:
*Pull a Gun-Mandatory 10 Years
* Pull the Trigger-Mandatory 20 Years
* Shoot Someone-25 Years to Life (whether they live or die)

* New Mandatory Minimum Prison Sentences for: Three Time Convicted Violent Felons
* Drug Traffickers
* Aggravated Assaults/Batteries on Law Enforcement Officers or an Elderly Person
* Repeat Sexual Batterers

Concealed carry OK; supports instant background check

* Supports the following principles concerning guns: Maintain state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
* Favor allowing citizens to carry concealed firearms.
* Florida visitors should be permitted to carry concealed weapons if they have permits from other states.
* Bush says, “I support an instant background check for all guns purchased at a gun show.”

Dr.Ron Paul

Ron Paul is the only name I've heard interested so far that I like enough to vote for.

I'm leaning toward not giving a (bleep) until a year or so from now. There's no way to tell who's still gonna be anywhere near a serious contender before then. So, why waste time and psychic energy?

If the Republicans put up someone like Gulianai or McCain :barf: , then, on the Dem side, Bill Richardson certainly doesn't look bad at all.

As it stands right now it does not look like I will be voting for a Republican. I am closely watching Bill Richardson's, and Ron Paul's campaigns, I have no doubt they will be eaten alive by their own parties. Maybe Richardson will become Hillary's VP running mate, which would her more patable to Independents. Ron Paul is a good man but he should run as a Independant.

Ron Paul.

I voted for him (not against someone else), back in '88 I think it was, when he had an L. behind his name instead of an R.

God bless him and I wish him well, but he's going to get chewed up and spat out, I'm afraid.

Why? Almost everything in your list is hideous

:scrutiny: Why you have a problem with punishing people who use guns in crime, or are you against concealed carry? Dont worry Jeb wont be running in 08 I promise. Nobody with the Bush name is getting back into office anytime soon, nor would I ever vote for him. Ron Paul would be great but I doubt he will get the party nomination. At this point I will vote for anybody but Obama or Clinton :barf: .

Not even leaning toward someone? I just don't see why you would feel that way. Certainly you are leaning against Hillary, at least a little?

Ron Paul and Wes Clark.

Now aren't they kind of political opposites? What could you possibly like about Clark?

Ron Paul, maybe.
I don't have any faith in the system anymore. We aren't going to get our Constitution and our sovereignty back by pushing buttons on a Diebold voting machine.

"Those who vote decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything"--- Josef Djugashvili Stalin.

If voting made a difference it would be illegal.

I disagree that Clinton and Obama won't remain serious contenders right up until the elections. Unless by a beautiful act of god they fall from grace. The question isn't who's going to win, or who are going to vote for, its more who should you keep an eye on due to their positive gun views. Sorry should have made that more clear...

I prefer seeing people punished for the crimes they commit, not for the tools they use. Better yet, I'd prefer seeing them punished during the commission of a crime by their intended victim.

I have nothing against concealed carry, just the permits.

Of course, there was also:

I support an instant background check for all guns purchased at a gun show.
Maintain state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.

You could always not vote. Then you don't have to worry about it at all.

The uniform.

At this point, Dr. Ron Paul.

I almost gagged noting the opting by someone for Weasley Clark.

“I have got 20 some odd guns in the house. I like to hunt. I have grown up with guns all my life, but people who like assault weapons should join the United States Army, we have them.” - Wesley Clark

"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the [Nazi] SS or SA--ordinary
citizens don't need guns, as their having them doesn't serve the state." -Heinrich Himmler

Pretty much sums up my view of that fascist.

Dr. Ron Paul will get my vote.

As far as Wesley Clark;
I have got 20 some odd guns in the house. I like to hunt. I have grown up with guns all my life, but people who like assault weapons should join the United States Army, we have them.

He also supports (or supported, during his 04 run)
- mandatory national database of gun "fingerprints"
-closing the gun show "loophole"
-allowing more lawsuits against gun manufactures

I respect him for having served, but he's certainly no friend to the second amendment.

Well, he loses my respect due to the "Benedict Arnold Standard".

Benedict Arnold served as a commander in the Continental Army. But when he attempted to betray the american revolution, he lost any and all respect that would convey.

I'm of a like mind regarding Clark.
