what sections do you usually read?

i know i've been here a short time but one thing that i really notice about this forum (besides how nice everyone is) is that there seems to be alot of cross posting between the general and political sections. usually its something having to do with a poll or a news article about a shooting. most of the time the threads are posted on the same day too. is it wrong to think that this is kind of odd? when i come here usually i browse general, political, handguns general, handguns autoloaders, and sometimes strategies. do some people just come here for a certain section and not even look at the others?

Most of the duplicate threads and cross posted threads will get combined or locked when one of the moderators catches them. Not really too much of a problem.

Re those duplicate threads, it really isn't much of a problem -- but as a moderator I really, really, really appreciate those folks who take an extra minute to run a quick search for key words from the article before posting it on THR. Some of the hotter news stories get posted (and moved, merged, or closed) a half-dozen times or more ...

It depends on my mood. I usually start in General. I skip L&P about 3/4 of the time - it's bad for my digestion.

I spend most of my time in Rifle Country and the handgun sections. I'll only read the shotgun section once in a great while. The rest of the sections I'll venture in to if I'm looking for something specific or just on a whim. That's about it.

As for duplicate stories - it really doesn't take that long to do a few keyword searches. When I find an interesting story to post I find that someone else has beat me to it about 90% of the time.

I go to Reloading first, followed by General, then General Handguns, then usually Autoloaders or Revolvers, then the various Marketplace forums. Sometimes I check other forums such as L&P, Rifles or Shotguns but not everytime.

Waaay too much time reading and posting in L&P, I try to resolve to stop spending so much time there, but something alays gets me worked up.

That said, I look at Gen, Revolvers, Rifles a lot too, and some Shotguns and some General Handguns and Autoloaders too.

As a fairly new gun owner, I need more practical knowledge and stop with the political stuff.

Esp. since most of the stuff in L&P is really liberal vs conservative, arguing about Iraq, or election related as opposed to RKBA....

I start with Revo's then Gen Handguns, Rifles, then finish up with General. By the time I get through that pile, it's time to go to the range again or go to bed.....yawn.
