What to buy? What to buy??

I will have to say that I went out today and handled one of the M&P 2.0 Compacts and it is a HUGE improvement over the previous generation M&Ps. It felt great in the hand and the trigger was MUCH improved. It's not quite as good as the P10C, but I would definitely say it's better out of the box than a stock Glock trigger.

I've kind of been in your same boat recently. I found that the CZ P10C felt really good in the hand and the trigger was fantastic. I also fell in love with the CZ P01 and P01 Omega. Those were the two most impressive guns to me. Everything else just seemed kind of "ok".

I also have a P365 for a carry gun and I can't imagine needing any other small gun for CCW. It's absolutely perfect for me.

So many people say the P10C feels good in the hand when a lot of people I know (including myself) say that the P10C feels like holding a porcupine in the hand.

The P10-C does have a bit of a prickly feel to it. I have to say " holding a porcupine " is pretty accurate. LOL

At the prices the SR series Rugers are going for these days I’m tempted to buy a bushel of um. Great guns

Like the two I bought at this price? Free shipping and transfer (Sportsman's is local to where I live).

As far as variety of different pistols vs mastering a single pistol... I prefer to master a variety of pistols. I find that with enough ammo and range time I can pick up any of my many pistols and shoot them very proficiently without thinking about which gun I have in my hand. If you are able to put in the practice time I feel it is an advantage to master several weapons instead of just one. I do not own any duplicates of the same weapon.

Thanks for the reply Mike and I agree with the above 100%. I shoot an average of 4-5 days a week. I don't even consider a new handgun for defense until it has 1000 flawless rds fired. Very nice collection by the way.

Oh I can certainly see how people could think that, but when you have smaller hands that extra grip really helps keep the pistol under control. That's also why I liked the M&P 2.0. That aggressive grip texture just feels rock solid in my hand helps keep the gun under control, especially when your hands start getting sweaty.

I actually ended up ordering the M&P 2.0 Compact tonight. It was really close between that and the CZ, but I like that the M&P was just a little shorter in terms of overall heights than the CZ. But I really don't think you can go wrong with either gun.

3.6 or 4" barrel?

3.6 or 4" barrel?

Not the one this is directed at but although I have a 4" and like the balance, reduced muzzle flip and increased performance I suspect I might actually shoot the 3.6" better. I've discovered recently I seem to shoot shorter sight radiuses better. The only thing I can come up with is old inflexible eyes and sights that are closer to the same sight plane.

Beretta APX compact------then if choose later for $50 you can buy a Centurion frame(Glock 19 size) that will accept the same slide/barrel assembly----you'll need the larger mags also.

The APX is priced to sell these days.

Can recommend the M&P 2.0 Compact highly too----no experience with the sub compact model but the same DNA is there.

Reviewing your topic's title reminds me of what it is like when Smoke is boiling from your 'wallet'.

Gun money, which gives so many of us the sense of freedom, can't stand being held prisoner. Have you also thought about buying ammo, and improving skills (unless not needed)?

3.6 or 4" barrel?

I went with the 4" model. I've already got a Sig P365, so I wanted that "Goldilocks" size of the 4" barrel and 15 round capacity. Not too big to carry and not too small to be uncomfortable for long range sessions. It's just right! Should be arriving today.

LOL! So true. I'm now a " senior citizen " so I figure why not enjoy the sport while I can. I do take my self defense weapons very seriously. Also when I do make a gun purchase I also buy a 1000 rds of assorted ammo to break it in with.

I sold the last of my CZ's less than a week ago. 1st time I haven't had a CZ in ten years. Feeling kinda naked without one (lol) so I'm leaning towards the P10-C. Haven't had a S&W autoloader since I purchased my 1st handgun, a model 59. If I really like the M&P9 2.0 sub compact then......both?

Was at my local LGS today. Checked out the M&P 2.0 Compact 4" and 3.6". Liked the 3.6" better but the 4" had a better trigger?? The S&W's are both $409 each. The CZ is $419. I will be ordering one these three tomorrow.

I could not stand it, I sold the gun. I recently picked up a very lightly used APX Centurion and it is a really comfortable gun to hold and shoot.

I have an M&P M2.0 9mm and yes, it does have a pretty aggressive grip texture, but nothing unpleasant as the P10C.

For my money, the Beretta APX family is the best poly striker fired handgun for the money, followed closely by the Ruger American Pistol.

If your ordering then the trigger won't matter because you never know whether yours will be closer to the 3.6 or 4".

I've stated I really like my 4" and I'm sure the CZ guys can tell you how much they enjoy it. It's not like ones a bad choice. Just get the one that speaks to you.

Good Luck!

If the CZ P10c had somehow featured a decocker, as with my Walther P99 AS (first shot can be DA or SA), it might have been a Very tough choice between the two. The P99 AS is both my first plastic And first decocker handgun.

My only CZ is the PCR, and in order to 'Czech another box' ;) , only "striker (Linear Hammer)" rifle is the VZ-58 "AK look-alike".

You like what you like. But if I were going with the 3.6" M&P, I'd just get the Shield. I really think you can't go wrong with any of these choices though.

For a larger compact, take a look at the Kahr CT9. Sweet double action trigger. Can be had new for around $325. Downside is that they only come with one mag and mags are like $40.

Some guys just really like the 15 round flush magazine with the option of a 17 round.
