I was down in Virginia for a burial at Arlington National Cemetary for a family member being interred there. After the ceremony we were going to a reception at a catering hall. I wasn't told that this catering hall was going to be in Fort Myer. I was following family members to the hall and see the signs saying Welcome to Fort Myers - No weapons allowed. I was carrying, also a LEO, at the time. I pulled up to the gate, which was staffed by military police. I identified myself and told them the situation and said I was armed. They took my credentials and ID and told me to standby. They came back a few minutes later and asked what gun I had and how many rounds I had on me. They said to keep gun on me and enjoy my time at the reception. This was in 2007, so don't know how much things have changed.
