At $4.00 a gallon for diesel, I will soon be going to range using this vehicle:

If its just me and one other, my Toyota pickup guns in the lock box.
If we take out the lil Sisters in law, Honda Civic
More than a total of 5 going (or they are really fat), we tell them to follow us (as we don't want to hurt our MPG's) :D

If it has been snowing or raining heavy then I take my '90 Jeep Cherokee 4x4. I need the 4x4 to get up the road in those conditions. Otherwise I take the more fuel effecient '99 S-10 P/U 4cyl 2wd. The Pickup wont make it up the road in the snow or mud unless I chain up and I HATE having to chain up:barf: The Truck is nice b/c it makes it easier to clean up and haul out a few extra bags of trash when we leave.

Guess I have only owned one car for 6 months or so since 1970, all the rest have been pickup's or a old FJ40 land Cruiser I've had over 20 years now. I have had a wife or two in that time period that had cars though. In fact there is a Camry out in the drive now.
Toyota 4X4 P/U's sure help the gas milage and are better off road than most I have experience with. Most go 200K with not much repair. Think I've had about 5 of em now. I know full size would be better suited for the job, but they will haul two elk off the mtn. too.

i'm happy to have just grabbed a '98 jeep grand cherokee 4.0l for 1/2 of blue book value. sure as heck beats trying to pack all my junk into a '91 POS honda accord that was my last car. love the jeep so far. much more range friendly and useful.

A very used Toyota Tundra.

When I got it it was all nice, and shiny. Now it is covered in scratches from trees, and sports some nice dents.

Also bent one of the nerf bars going up a nasty mountain 4 wheeler trail.

Oh well whats the point in having 4 wheel drive if your not going to actually use it?

My '96 Mitsubeater has been paid for for years...

And, lemme tell you, don't do drugs... They're not all that bad for you, but the cops take away your toys, and sell them to people like me... A few years back, picked up a '95 3/4 ton chevy van, with a tow package, and I am ALMOST to 100K with it... Paid under $2K for it, with 44K on the clock, but I _did_ have to fix a couple of shot out windows and clean up a whole bunch of fingerprint powder.

My friend Kelly's, it has more guns and ammo in it, and he's buying the gas.

Seriously, I can't afford a vehicle just to haul my stuff to the range. I'm pulling my 94 Buick Park Avenue (I love that car) off the road because I'm not putting a two thousand dollar transmission in it. I'm putting a 97 Chrysler LHS on the road because it's in pristine shape and I only paid $1500 dollars for it. Both cars have big trunks.:D

I drive my Jeep Wrangler everywhere for everything.

People actually buy a special vehicle for going to the range?

'99 Honda Civic HX 2 door. Wish I could afford a Tacoma or Frontier, but it's not going to happen any time soon. I almost got stuck out at the 200 yard range a few weeks ago. Civics were not meant for off-roading.

One vehicle does everything (because it is my only one). 2005 Toyota Tacoma, similar to this one:

The extended cab gives me room to put stuff on the rear seating area floor. I did get this feature for that purpose. :)

Usually my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Plenty of room for people and toys. Plus it's tactical colored. If not my buddy's Acura TL S for better MPGs...

1988 Volvo 240DL
Great stealth choice. Who would ever expect a Volvo owner to be packin' a gun? :)

My car is a Subaru Outback--the new Volvo of the Happy Valley of W. Mass.

'05 GMC Sierra Z71, mpg is fine because the range is only about 2 miles away. Soon to be exchanged for a wrangler.

p.s. its for sale ;)

2000 daewoo 3 door lanos. Bought it new on my Visa for 9k. Great car, no maintenance. It costs me nothing. $25/wk to fill and goes everywhere.

'87 BMW 325 (unless I can wrangle my wife's 4Runner away from her).

I knocked a hole in the oil pan once, getting out to one of the local 'informal' ranges in the national forest.
