My Grandmothers High Standard Double Nine, chrome with mother of pearl grips. At the age of 8, I thought it was the coolest gun ever (because I got to shoot it)...saw it the other day at her house...YUCK. Its silly, but I would give an arm and a leg to have that ugly little piece of junk.
My Dad's High Standard SportKing. I have that gun now, and it is still a good shooter. It is the lever takedown version, and I just wish it locked the bolt back on an empty magazine. The second handgun I shot was a 6-inch Python that belonged to a cousin. I wish I had that gun - but I have one just like it.
I actually don't know. I was invited to a private range with a bunch of acquaintances and got to shoot someone's handgun (I don't even remember for sure if it was an auto or revolver but I think it was an auto) about 11-12 years ago. When I first actually started to shoot (a couple years ago) I rented a S&W .38spl revolver (I don't remember for sure if it had adjustable or fixed sights, I wouldn't have thought to check then, so I don't know if it was an M10 or M15).
11.43x23 (AKA .45 ACP). 230 Grain Ball. Quite the first pistol experience -- and my only pistol experience for quite a few years. I finally shot a .38 out of a .357 and it felt like a .22 -- definitely a better place to start.
My first pistol was a Chrome Colt Pocket Auto in 32 Auto my dad gave me in the early 70's. He carried it for years. I carried it as back up gun with PD and off duty during hot weather months. Still have it but haven't shot it in a long time. Sights are to hard to use.
My brother's Ruger Bearcat 22LR. I was around 10, and borrowed it *without* permission with a friend. We went shooting out back (this was in MA - back then, you could shoot out in the country). My friend accidently lowered the Bearcat to rest it on his leg, which was propped on a log. The gun went off. The high speed hollow point went thru my right thigh. Ouch. Thats another whole story. I still shoot. My friend doesn't
