Into a Cave.........
First, I think I'd get a set of the 'Sport Ear' or electronic ear plugs/muffs that enhances hearing AND reduces 'damaging' sound.
You may not have a choice as to weapontry.....but an M-4 loaded with softpoints and an underslung M-203(for clearing the cave mouth and distance shots at groups in the sometimes long Afghan caverns....also buck shot, flares to lighten up dark areas, etc) with onboard Surefire and red dot sight would do nicely. This is one place where a laser and night vision might really be handy.
The Krinkov and AK would do to, but not have all the technological bells and whistles.
A ultra reliable handgun(!!) loaded with good hollow points for clearing in ultra tight quarters and as a back up....preferable with an onboard white light and night sights. Naturally, I'd prefer a 1911 set up my way, but that may not be an option.
The hearing protection/enhancement and some expanding ammo for rifle and handgun, and a custom 7-9 inch fighting blade would find its way into my possession, whether or not I can sneak my 1911 in.
My buddy armed with an M-4 and one of those new shotguns would be nice to have along.
Grenades, of course. A variety of flavors......
An HK UMP 45 with a few add-ons(surefire, red dot, etc) would be very comforting to have available for Close Encounters of the worse kind
