What would you do with these?

Given the following four handguns, if you could only keep two and absolutely had to get rid of the others, which would you keep and why?

1. Springfield Armory MilSpec 1911A1
2. Beretta 92FS
3. Ruger SS 4" GP100
4. Ruger Mk II (MK512)

Added Info: Not going to be used for hunting or competition or anything like that, only uses would be for home defense and shooting for practice/fun.
 
I am a big revolver fan -- BUT

I would keep the 1911 and the 22 pistol--

If you were a hunter I would keep the 1911 and the Ruger 357--
 
Of the 4, I would keep the Ruger Mk II for the cheap & fun shooting. The second gun would depend on why you're getting rid of them. If it's because money is tight, I'd keep either the Beretta or the GP 100 because ammo is relatively cheap in 9mm & 38 special. If it were between the 92fs & the GP, it would depend on whether you had a preference for revo's or semi's. If it's not a money thing, I'd keep the 1911 because I prefer the 45 acp as a defensive round.
 
I'd keep all but the berreta 9mm , like the .45 , have a gp and it great ( like a timex) and want a .22 plinker . If I had to I would get rid of the springfield

I'd keep both Rugers. They'll outlast the others 3 to 1 and do it with accuracy and improving triggers. I've got a Security-Six that has 30 +years and tens of thousands of rounds on it and it still shoots 1.5 inch groups with a nice smoot trigger. I've owned a Colt made 1911 and it was OK but it took a lot of maintenance and chasing that brass wor me out. Beretta makes a great weapon but I just would rather have a revolver.

I'll take the M9 pistol for self defense cos I like 9mm and the 16 shot capacity will give me extra re-assurance and i'll choose the GP100 cos I've always wanted to try a Ruger revolver but never had the chance. (Whilst still in uniform many moons ago, my issue sidearm was a S&W Model67 SS with 4" barrel...:( never got to try other wheelguns.)

Someone got a great trigger.

I'd also opt for the GP100 & SA.
.357/.38 has a zillion load possibilities, .45ACP has quite a few too. Both are "fun", both are good for self-defense & plinking.
 
1911- St. Browning's masterpiece!

MkII- Cheap to shoot, reliable, solidly built
 
Personally the Ruger Mk II - any .22 LR really, for cheap practice.
Any one of the rest for self defence. I personally like the Beretta and 1911, but that is preference. More care needs to be taken in choosing a good cartridge for the 9 mm.
 
If needing money is the reason that you are getting rid of the other two then I would keep the two Rugers. Both would be cheap to feed for practice and the GP would work well as the home SD gun. Probably a higher sale value on the two autos too.

My choice would be the GP100 and the MKII. The 22 Ruger is a great pistol and allows a lot of practice for just a little money. A 357 wheel gun is a versatile pistol. The GP is one of the best. From light 38s to (small) bear stopping magnums it will handle any loading. If I could just have two, these would be the ones.
 
I would probably keep the 1911 and GP 100.

I love the 1911 design and it would be a great HD and fun gun. If you are in a CCW state it would be an acceptable carry gun (the weight is a little high, but it isn't too heavy to be a comfortable belt gun, and the width is great for comfortable carry). The cheapest .45acp ammo isn't too bad (about $10 or so) and of course this is the cartridge all other auto cartridges are judged by.

I am also a big fan of .357magnums. I love the cartridge. Tons of fun. It is a powerful gun that can be downloaded with effective .38spl HPs and .38+Ps for HD and it can also use cheap .38spl practice ammo.

In fact, I like this combo enough (1911 and medium framed .357mag revolver) that for a time my only two guns were a Charles Daly 1911 and a S&W 65LS.

The other two are good too depending upon your priorities. If the 9mm was a CZ 75B I would be hard pressed to decide v. the 1911 (though I'd probably go .357 and CZ as I love mine and 9mm ammo can be super cheap). However, you only gave these specific choices and asked which we'd pick and those are my picks (I'm still w/out a .22lr pistol so I guess I can see going without).

They're Rugers, they will probably last forever!

You will be well set-up for plinking, defense, and teaching others safe and responsible shooting.
 
Oh, just to add, in echo of some other posts. If this is a real situation I guess it really depends upon your reasons. If it is due to a real need for the cash I'd sell whichever would bring the most money (probably the 1911 and the Beretta). If you are making the sacrifice because you need the cash you may as well get the most out of it as you can. The .357mag will be more than good enough for HD. The .22lr will give you really cheap practice. If it is due to money trouble and carry is an issue I'd probably keep the 1911 and sell the GP100 since the GP100 is about the biggest of the medium frame revolvers (another option is to sell all but the .22 and use the GP100 money to buy a used S&W K-frame so you net the most you can and keep a more carryable gun).
 
OK, I'll let everyone in on the situation.
I do CCW, usually with the Beretta unless I'm feeling "froggie" then I carry the Springfield.

Anyway, I have a very good friend who doesn't have the money to purchase his own home defense gun. As I have in the past, I'm more than willing to give a good friend a good gun to help protect their families and homes. The decision I was making was to determine which guns to sell or trade to provide him with a good defense gun.

As it turns out, I just gave him the GP100 for many of the reasons you all have listed: reliability, multiple load options, easy of maintenance, durability, etc. I hated to part with the GP but at least I've "kept it in the family" for a good purpose.
