I Just got my CHL today. Tommrow I take the walmart walk in el paso. I'm a big guy 6'1 260ish should have no problem with CCW. (Small bursa .380) one thing Ive been wondering what would yall do if for some reason I imprint or someone lifts my shirt to expose the weapon in open. I live in el paso and let's just say it wouldn't surprise me if someone tried to say tommrow during my walk.

Well just remember you are licensed by whatever state you are in and if have done all paperwork etc, Your Legal Dog. Your no thug from the streets looking to hold up the walmarts you know. When you conceal carry you have to change your wardrobe to accept so. Longer, larger shirts extra size larger pants if IWB holsters is your choice. I have heard of people getting in trouble for exposing there carry gun in the wrong places and I do understand that if your conceal weapon is exposed it is as if you can or are using your carry gun as some sort of leverage to non gun carriers. Does not make a lot of sence to me but hey. Just wear a long shirt. Good luck man.

Thanks and I am in texas. The reason i ask is I remember at a mall in austin once I when i was younger. Luckly it as in front of a cop so. Nothing happened.

I too carry a small .380 and mostly in a pocket holster.
With such I cant ever foresee a problem.
Was in several large department stores last Saturday night with nary a problem.
I do understand your concerns as I too live in Texas and they do mean concealed.

I see lots of guys carrying CCW that seem to intentionally wear that "short shirt" almost as if they want their gun to occassionally play peek-a-boo with the public....just sayin'.

Russ, you could very well lose your license.
Depends on the situation but I certainly dont want to be the one to find out.
I can tell you during my CHL class the instructor reiterated many times that concealed means concealed.

I have never heard of someone losing there license because their shirt pulled up. Does this happen often? ...Russ

The Walmart walk is exactly what it sounds like. It is a preplanned trip in abwell lit crowded place in order to see if your weapon is as concealed as you think. You have goals that might make someone look you over like get stuff from a top and bottom shelf and buy ammo.
What is the Walmart walk

If you're carrying concealed, choose a method/position/holster that allows you to reliably hide the gun. Then adapt your wardrobe as necessary. The consequences of unintentional printing or exposure vary from state to state, get familiar with your local laws to avoid potential difficulties. IMHO concealed means concealed, and the first place to get familiar with how well your concealed carry system/method works is at home.

If you're talking about tee shirts, take a look at

Covers pistol butts as well as plumber's butt... :D

It appears i left an important word out of my op. The question was what it someone else lifts my shirt to see it in public. Like I imprinted so the got stupid and wanted to check.

Chad,

You can edit your original post to fix that, as long as you can still see the EDIT button in the lower right hand corner of the post box. If it's not there, tell me/us what you intended for it to say and the staff will fix it for you.

I've been carrying concealed for... a lot of years... and no one has ever messed with my clothing. I'm afraid if someone did, however, I'd have to very quickly assess their intentions in reaching for my weapon and react accordingly. If you don't have any training in weapon retention, you might consider seeking some relevant training. Since most trainers who teach retention include contact range gunfighting in their curriculum, it's well worth while IMHO.

Just an FYI Russ.
In Texas being arrested for disorderly conduct is an almost absolute you will get your CHL yanked away from you by the state and according to our code 42.01(8) A person that displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner CALCULATED to alarm.
Now I put calculated in bold because the event of your gun accidententaly showing is just that accidental.
However if some cop saw that or some medicated soccer mom did and made an issue of it you as the license holder just might get taken to jail and those twelve people on the jury might not be so sympathetic to you.

Man I have carried for 26 years almost always in my right front pocket. Anybody that know's could look at it and know i had a gun there, but no gun shows so it is concealed and thats what matters. Don't care if it prints. If you have a wife, girl friend, buddy, have them look you over knowing your carry'n and just be normal. Don't get carried away with it. Just takes some time to get use to carry'n and how you carry then were you can and can't go with it. Get a cabled lock box when you can't carry for your car and act normal.
