well since this year is comming to a close, i am starting to think about next year and th tax return time. i figure i am gonna have a budget of $900 to spend so i would like o see what you guys would do with it, if you were in my situaition. i would like to have $100-$150 left over for mags and such.
What I Have
bushmaster m4 just like i want it
mak-90
remington 870
sks
khar k-40
sa xd service .40
sa xdsc .40
ruger 22/45

Here is What I Want
Beretta storm 9mm
xd tactical 9mm
savage model 10 .308
Ruger Mini-14
.357 revolver of some sort.
Bushmaster predator upper
Taurus pt1911 .40

i would like to get into some longer range shooting but the rabges that i visit normally don't have anything past 200yds, and the farthest has been 300yds, and that is easly managable with my ar, but i like to have fun so semi auto's are my favorite.

i was thinking along those lines as well. try to knock two off the list.
Savage M10 and a nice piece of glass.
yep, man there is so many choices! what glass would recomend and still be able to keep it in th budget?

btw thanks for all the replies guys just what i wanted to hear, and just because it ain't on the list it probally means i forgot about it at the time i was making the thread. hit me with all you got! thanks again.

Bah!

Get an AR-15. Maybe a longbarrel...maybe an M4...whatever tickles your fancy.

Don't waste your money on anything else.

I know I won't be. :D

I'd scratch the Mini-14 as you already have a .223 that will outshoot it.

A pistol carbine Storm won't do much for your long range bug, but they sure look like fun anyways. :) I'd maybe look into a Springfield Socom in 18". That could satisfy both a "fun" and long range catagories. Surplus .308 isn't much more than .223 sometimes.

What kind of revolvers? SA cowboy stuff or service? I got my first wheel guns this year and it has opened up some new doors of shooting fun. 9mm is still cheaper to shoot, but a fine revolver is so comforting to hold. You can get a good pair of them for under $900 too.

Justin

EDIT: Just saw prices on the Socoms. Man, they keep climbing!

see i knew i had forgot something, i edited my original post i am thinking about another ar upper, like the predator, or varminter from bushmaster maybe; thanks Fu-Man shoe.

sounds good but on a $900 budget i don't think that is very doable.

no cowboy revolvers for me yet. maybe later down the road. i am thinking a s&w 686, 60, taurus model 605, ruger sp101 etc.

$900 and what to spend it on.
A nice used SS Blackhawk .357 for around $350. Just picked up a SS Blackhawk
in .45 LC 7 1/2" for $379 at Cabela's . As for glass 4-14 Muller I put on
my .221 Fireball is really nice for about $180. Its not a Nikon or Leupold
but you'd have about $300 plus left for something else! Perhaps towards an upper?

I say 686 all the way, possum. Everyone should have at least one .357 revolver, and a 686 "the distinguished combat magnum" is never a bad choice. You'll have enough left to spend to get some nice grips, a trigger job, and still have enough left for some boxes of ammo. Then you'll be true magnum stylin' :)

i would add a saiga, in 223, 762. and 12 ga or 410, then also a mosin m38. you could get all of them for about 900 bucks, if you shop smart.

Not on your want list but perhaps give a thought to the garand. Thought I heard that cmp was running low or out on some models.

Get the Storm, it is a ton of fun to shoot with and is like a "grown up's" 22 in that regard. After that, a 357 would be my next choice.

1)...a safe if you don't have one

2)...a REALLY nice reloading set-up (Dillon 550 or Hornady L-n-L) if you don't have one. You'll save a ton of money and shoot more.

3) Ruger Bisley .45LC. I have various autos and wheel guns. This is the first one I pick up for blasting away. The reloading set-up makes it way cheap to shoot, like $4.00 for a box of 50.

4)...A really good, accurate upper for your AR and some really good glass. For $900 you could get set up. Then use your reloader to mix up some super accurate ammo for cheap.

What would I get, or what do I think you should get?

I'd get 2 more Garands from the CMP.

You should probably order your wish list by price and then pick the 2 guns closest to the top that come in at $900 or below.

But that's just what I think.

$900= Ruger GP100 .357magnum around $400 you can get an xd tac for around $475 at academy at least around here anyway.

Everyone should have a good .308 bolt rifle so I'd go with the Savage on your list.

You should have enough left over to get a ton of mags/ammo for your AR, or you could look into the 20 + inch upper for it.

Well that's easy...

A good .308 bolt action, or put that money down on a good FAL,M1A, or AR10 since you have some good handguns, some nice medium range rifles, but no real,"Reach out and touch something", weapon...

Still 2 Many Choices!?
