Huh, you ask what's everybody's favorite .40 caliber pistol is and you get anti .40 cailber replies....
It makes me wonder why they even clicked on this thread.

Anytime you mention caliber, you're going to get that. I've just learned to let it blow past me. Some people seem to think that their opinion is better than yours. Maybe it is. I don't care. I shoot whatever I want. You want a .40, ignore everyone that tries to convince you otherwise.

That being said, SIG P229 all the way!!!

Beretta Px4 40 here

...

Has to be my Beretta Px4 40cal.. 5300 rounds, with no failures, just 100%

Very forgiving, recoil wise, if forced into one-hand shooting..

Why so many ppl haiting on .40sw, I actually like the round.

My most favorite and most accurate .40sw gun is my G23.

I daily carry a G27 though because it's smaller.

Andrew the MP is the One!

About two months ago I purchased a SW-MP .40-I had about given up on the .40 caliber. I really Love the .45! Then I bought the MP. :)This guns totally Rocks!-Looks Good Too! It is totally reliable [now 1480 rounds] I feed it everything! Loves hollow points! Very easy to take down and clean. The least amount of recoil of any .40 I have ever shot. The grip and balance is also one of the Best I have ever put my hands on! Smith has made a very Fine gun in the MP! I will be getting the .45 when they come out with the 14 RD Mag! [I am getting the 9mm MP this month-the wife will never see this thread-she has her own computer:p] For 500 Dollars it is a steal! I have to commend Smith they really put some thought into the MP! If you get the gun buy some Winchester 180gr Ranger T's and you will have a Great HD/SD weapon!

The Best to you and Yours!

For me, I like the H&K USPc and the Sig P229(all stainless steel). If I had to just choose one, I would go with the USPc.

easyg,zespectre and gravis86

two posters have mentioned that they owned .40s and did not like them as well as 45.wouldn't call that bashing.at least they added their opinion on those models.and if your talkin' bout me the OP said .40cal pistol and last I checked 10mm=.40.

well this is easy for me , i only have one 40 cal its a glock 27, shoots pretty good for the size , now if i could just decide on what ammo to use 180 gr or 165 , i have only shot 180 as of now , csa:)

My favorite .40S&W:

Beretta Steel-1

My second favorite is a tie between my Armscor 1911-A2 widebody 1911 Para P16 clone, and Taurus PT-100. Best bang per buck.

My third favorite: USP 40, but I really disliked the price for a plastic gun.

favorite .40 ..... so far

I have fired glocks 23 and 27 and put 600+ rds through a borrowed sig 2340 For a while I owned a 4" XD40 and it never failed me but I traded it in for my most recent favorite .40. The 3" XD40 subcompact. However I have found I don't like the short grip, and the extended mag seems to make me more accurate. Software issue.

I owned the XD40 Tactical and it was a tack driver in my hands. Sold it in favor of the XD40SC for a ccw. The subbie has quite a bit of muzzle flip, but I can still keep tight enough within 30 feet. The Pearce grip extension helped quite a bit.

Take a look at the FNP 40. Made by FN Herstal at their plant here in the US. DA/SA with a smooth DA and SA trigger action. I like it as an alternative to the DAO style triggers of the Glocks, XD's and M&P's. I just bought one and only have 150 rounds through it, but it was flawless and easy to shoot.

Its a polymer but similar to a Sig in feel and styling and has a decocker but no safety. Like the M&P, it was designed around the .40 S&W cartridge, not upgraded from a 9mm design.

I also have an M&P 9mm and judging by how that gun has performed for me, I would expect the .40 version to be outstanding also. I don't like the grip safety on the XD's and have never gotten comfortable with the grip angle on my Glock 23 despite several thousand rounds through it. Right now my M&P is my most accurate handgun, but the FNP may rival it with a little practice.

Have to agree with Frogger on the Glock G35. It has a longer barrel than most if not all pistols mentioned thus far. It has a 3.5 pound connector from the factory, as well as extended slide release/catch and magazine release. It was basically built to take advantage of most pistol shooting competition rules (weapon size, magazine capacity, etc) and you can use it to enter GSSF competitions which adds to practice and range time. Hard to beat all that, actually my local shop has one for around $600.00 may have to stop in and take a look at getting a new one.

I've owned a few pistols in 40 cal...G23, Beretta 96, USPc 40, and a Para Ord P16-40 and learned it wasn't the platform, it was the round I didn't care for....of the guns I have owned/shot the nicest shooting was the 96 ;)
I much prefer either the 9mm or the 45 acp
