What's everyone's age and shooting experience?

47, in accord with Jersey law, I got my first rifle at 18 and my first handgun at age 21. I didn't come from "gun culture" but I was interested in military history and all wrapped up in that "Soldier of Fortune" romanticism of the late seventies and the early eighties.

28. Had BB guns as a kid, would shoot with dad or granpa with a 30-30 or 303. Never owned a gun until college, when I kept a Series 80 stainless and a Model 70 in 270 at a friends house. Mom is anti-gun to a point. She tolerates my dads 1911 and 303, but thinks guns are bad...

Now, I have an M1, SKS, Shotguns, 22s, and a 1911. Wife has a 357 revolver. I shoot every 2-3 weeks, and am a member at the local rifle-pistol club.

I also reload, and belong to the NRA.

32... less than a year.

I was always on the fence about owning a gun, mostly because I had never handled one. Hearing about rescue workers in NOLA being shot at by gangs of ignorant thugs changed my mind. Since then, I've picked up a couple of surplus military rifles (AK, AR, FAL) that can be converted to full auto if necessary.

Picked up my first pistol over the weekend. I likes it. :)

Whoa Dude! Don't even think about that one. It is unnecessary and highly illegal. We shouldn't even talk about it. That's inviting bad karma.

For me, I started plinking with Dad back when I was about eight. He had mostly Carcanos and black powder guns. I made the leap to Mausers and Mosins in my twenties. I'm thirty-four now.

24, shooting rifles and shotguns for 10 years, handguns for 2 years. Only really got serious about the RKBA in the last couple years and decided to join the NRA. Never looking back!

Hm. Maybe I could have phrased that better. "All my rifles are 100% legal and I would not consider modifying them in any way without prior permission."

There. :D

I wanted something in a .308 semi-auto. I stumbled upon the FAL purely by chance.

Age 24. Shot my grandfather's BB gun when I was a wee thing (6-7), some time off until the Boy Scouts taught me to shoot clays (12ga and 20ga, both missing frequently) and .22LRs.

Some time off until I turned 21, bought a Glock 19, joined the army, shot a whole bunch of Uncle Sam's goodies, bought a 10/22, came home, bought a whole lot of other guns, and have been shooting ever since.

Mostly informal stuff, but I've been to a few classes here and there (locally and at Front sight), and am looking into some action-shooting stuff here in Tucson. We'll see how that goes.

I am 32 and have been shooting shotguns and .22s since I was about 8.
My family was not into big game so I took up bowhunting and still do that
every year. Bought my first rifle when I turned 18 and my first pistol
that same year (private sale).:scrutiny:
My mom never could understand where I got my "gun addiction".
Now my wife is trying to figure out my addiction as well.
Concealed carry just passes in my state and I got one of the first
permits in the state. Wife is not sure I need to carry all the time but
I think she is starting to get use to it. She has quit asking "do you need
that"?

I'm 43, family are pasifists. didn't start shooting until October 2006, less than 6 months ago. I love my new hobby. I thank the guy who broke into my house and the cop that suggested getting a 870 shotgun & a glock.

Tomorrow I buy a S&W 642, for CCW and I already have a stainless 686.:)

22 and stated shooting probably around 8 or 9 with my Dad and Boy Scouts. Just now starting to get into more and buying a few firearms when I get the spare money.

19, occasionally went shooting with my dad when i was 10, but it didnt last long. got into it seriously 3 yrs ago thanks to a friend. first gun was a Stevens 311D SxS in 16ga, which was in the family. bought my first (M1 Garand) from said friend. couldnt have asked for a better first buy. wasnt sure how my dad would take to my new hobby so he didnt no about it till a year later. mom didnt understand at first, but now accepts it, so long as i keep everything locked up. grandmother on the other hand, prefers that i didnt shoot and kept with my other outdoor activity, fishing, which i enjoy just as much.

35 here. I started shooting real firearms at 7 years old under close supervision. I got my first firearm that I could call my own at 9 years old. I believe I bought my first firearm on my own (in my Dad's name and with his approval) at 14 years old (a 6 inch barrel Ruger Security Six .357)

Since then I've owned dozens of firearms and horse-traded a lot of them for better ones. Now, I wish I didn't. It may be slower getting what I want, but now if I buy it I'll hold on to it.

I turn 48 in March. Shooting since I was 10 or so. 3yrs Army from 77-80. I was a REMF no combat experience. Stopped shooting and hunting for about 5 yrs in my early sobreity now I'm making up for lost time. H.P. changed my life 8/15/88

Will be 68 in two months. Started shooting .22 LR at age 8 or 9. Have been reloading and shooting seriously since 1964 (pistol, rifle, shotgun). Shot Bullseye competition for several years. Now compete only against myself and previous pistol scores with .22 LR, .45 ACP, and .44 Mag. Constant self improvement is my goal.

Good shooting and be safe.

27 I first started shooting with my dad when I was about 10, then when I was 11 we built a hawkens black powder rifle from a kit and my dad gave it to me for my 12th birthday. We went shooting about every week or two and when I was 16 I paid for (dad bought) my first rifle, a marlin 336 30-30. I have been adding to my rifle collection since I was 18 and started my pistol collection with a sig 220 when I turned 21, I have added several guns over time, started reloading about two years ago, and shoot at least once a week.

22 years old. Been shooting since about 5 or 6. Started with a single shot .410, then on to shooting a lot of clays. Recently caught the 1911 bug and bought my first one in september, so I've been working on my handgun skills. Now looking for an o/u 12ga.

58, Been shooting since 9 and love every second of it. My Dad was a drill sgt. in the army and taught me to shoot. I won a turkey when I was 9 at a turkey shoot. My Dad taught me well. I only have one eye and he said I was aimin all the time.

I'm 73 and have been shooting since I was 7. Back home in west TN. back then people didn't think too much on a young boy with a .22 rifle. It just seemed natural there. I've been shooting something or another ever since that time.

40 years old. Shot four years steady while in the Marines. I stopped when I got out because I was a poor unemployed student. Now I am just recently enjoying a little diposable income and am able to afford a few toys. So after 2007 passes it will be 5 years shooting.

I got Colt AR15 HBAR Sporter II
Colt government series 70 .45 acp
Ruger 10/22
Springfield Armory SA 48 (Brazillian copy of FN FAL)
Remmington 870 12 ga
S&W model 10
S&W model 29

I want more S&W's, a real Fabrique National Fusil Automatique Leger, an HK 91, M1A, an Aresnal SAM7, & an AIA No 4 Mk IV in .308 I'm slowly getting what I want...
