What's in Your Pocket?

For decades I searched for a "pocket gun". Nothing I tried worked for me as I always ended up feeling like I had a rock in there. Finally "settled" for a NAA mini .22. Now that worked of course. FAR from close to ideal but I figured better than nothing on times I was leaving a better choice home. When Kel-Tec started to advertise to up coming .32 got on a waiting list for one. When first one got here now I had something l loved. I could actually forget it was there. Later it was one of their .380's. Then Wife bought a at that time new Ruger LCPII. It was too much for her but damn I love it. Only downside was now have to use a pocket holster but to me it was worth it for the trigger. Now it's like Karl used to say, "don't leave home without it" :D

Kel-Tec P32 (this is a second gun.) Spare, ten-round magazine in the watch pocket hidden behind my cell phone case. Sometimes it's a NAA .22LR mini there instead.

Two sets of keys (house, three-plus vehicles.) Folding knife clipped to pocket.

Cash ("walkin' 'round money.")

Badge case/Id/CC holder.

Nitrile exam gloves. Hand sanitizer. Cloth face mask.

With my lines of work, pocket carry is the only way I've been able to consistently carry day to day. I've Tried a few things over the years, always end up coming back to a Keltec p3at. J frames are typically too heavy or bulky, and print badly even with a holster. I carried a Kimber Micro for a while with no issues until I changed jobs, then went back to the lighter and slimmer keltec to avoid printing in dress slacks.
The keltec in a desantis nemesis has been riding in my right pants pocket for the better part of 11 years now. It ain't pretty, but it's been reliable and sure beats a pointy stick.

Very seldom ever carry in my pocket. Front pocket of my Wranglers would never let me get any kind of gun out in reasonable time to do any good. At times I've stuck my S&W Model 442 in my hip pocket for a brief carry:

But for serious social distancing I prefer something a mite larger in .45 Colt caliber!

Right front cargo pocket- hks speed loader
Left lower cargo pocket- bianchi speed strip

Small wallet in front left pocket

If you discover the joys of cargo pants (and shorts), pocket carry will become your friend. The cargo pockets are easy to reach sitting and standing. The pockets don't sag or sway strangely if the handgun is light enough. It is an extremely convenient and comfortable form of carry. You have to make sure that the pocket holster is large enough so that it can't turn sideways in the pocket (or you can just sew a row of stitches to make the pocket narrower).

Keys, phone, wallet, inhaler, folding knife or push dagger, LCR

If I'm going to be walking or standing (such as walking the dog), a S&W airweight in the back pocket of jeans is another favorite method.

Howdy

Believe it or not, even though I own more than a few handguns, I don't carry. Just don't. Period.

But a bunch of years ago after some coyotes had been sighted in our neighborhood I put this in my pocket when walking the dog. Smith and Wesson 38 Single Action, 2nd Model. Chambered for 38 S&W. Not 38 Special, that cartridge did not exist yet when this revolver was made.

That workhorse shows the years of carry that way. The one P32 I still have looks like that and even worse. Finish is pretty much gone from years of pocket carry. Now and then still take it to the range just to test it. Damn thing has never failed. The guns are much maligned on line but they have sure worked great for me. :D I have tried a couple holsters and keep going back to that same one. They are cheap and just work great.

Yep the finish is mostly gone, the checkering is worn smooth in places but the gun still works fine. I clean it and blow the pocket lint out once a month or so, and run a mag of carry ammo through it every couple of range trips. It's been 100% with all fmj, gold dots, xtps, and golden sabres. Thankfully never used it on a 2 legged critter, but a couple of copperheads have been on the business end of it. Cheapest handgun I own, but definitely my most carried.

Yep, cargo pants/ shots make it easy and you still have enough pockets to carry other stuff

Ruger LCP in left pocket holster and spare mag with pocket knife and cash in right pocket!
That’s how I do it!
