because chambering it in anything else would be like trying to improve the Mona Lisa using finger paint. :)

I prefer .45 ACP.

I don't care for the shorter rounds (like 9 MM Luger and .40 S&W) since they require some kind of modification to the magazine.

.38 Super, 9x23 Win, 10 MM, and .400 Cor-bon all seem like they would be good choices if you wanted something different than .45 ACP.
 
It is probably wise to choose the cartridge for which the gun was designed (just tends to work really well). :rolleyes: But, the .38 Super and 10mm are fantastic cartridges, and I'd give the nod to the 10mm if you want .45 knockdown, a flatter trajectory, AND a round that will punch through things just a little bit better.
