Firestorm Commander sized 1911. $300 many moons ago. Rock solid dependable. I should have kept it.

The several Commission M1888s I have owned. I think the first one was $32 mail order in 1977.

They were my introduction to high power rifles and a great history lesson.

I've found them to be, in general, more accurate than Mauser '98s.

I even learned to refinsh rifle stocks with them.

Oh, my Romak AKs I bought for $199. Giddy when I think of how much this AK stuff goes for nowadays.

This is something that I think about often and with regret too because I bought a Lakefield single shot .22 for $40 (when I was young and dumb.)
I shot that gun until I wore it out. It was accurate and had a great trigger pull (crisp and clean.) And I got one of my best shots with it.(killed crow)
But I am so sorry that I never bought a better quality bolt action repeater .22 when I had the oppourtunity.
I spent money like a drunken sailor when I was a kid and I should have learned more about saving money and buying a quality gun that lasts.

Believe it or not, Bryson 48. Free from a friend, needed a firing pin. Soft shooting, accurate. Malfunctioned once when the extractor pin migrated out a bit. Once fixed, it's been flawless.

Never shot hollowpoints in it, and will NEVER be a SD pistol, but still pleasant to shoot

In 1966 my father bought me a used Mossberg Model 46 .22 RF (army training model with mannlicher stock) for $14.00 plus tax. It was the only firearm I had for many years and I shot a huge number of rounds with it. It is incredibly accurate, has a really nice adjustable trigger & with the original target peep sights I still shoot great with it at 50 yards & beyond. In fact talking about it reminds me I need to take it to the range this week.

An H&R Guardian I bought for $50 a few years back. I had to do a minor repair and fabricate a rear sight, which had fallen off. I reload .32 s&w long for this pistol and others. It is a hoot! Recoil and report of a .22 lr but with a 98 great bullet at about 850 fps!

I had bought a preowned S&W 22A for $125 almost 20 years ago that my sons learnt shooting with. We pust over 110,000 rounds through it. I found some used Nill grips for it for $40 and added them recently.



The other is probably a used Korth that I had found without grips and in bad shape that I got in a good deal for well under $400. It cleaned up well and as a Korth enthusiast, I always have some sets of spare grips in my parts box.

Remington 510 $35 at an estate sale. I shoot it so much I just leave it in the shop. Better trigger and more accurate than some firearms I own that were 10x’s the price and I don’t have to treat it like a safe queen.
